I loved U2. Especially "Elevation"! Bono throwing the basketball out into the crowd looked a bit pansy, but hey... he rocks.

Didn't see it; didn't miss it. U2 rubs me the wrong way. Even if they had a band I liked though, I wouldn't be too crazy about it. Halftime is for going to the bathroom, getting drinks, and calling your brother and talking smack! I don't have time for concerts.

Liked it bigtime, don't know about the rest of the halftimes, though my wife might make me watch the DC one [IMG]

I thought it was a weak-ass attempt by Stern and his minions to pump up the ratings on a predicted less-than-stellar finals match-up. Way too cheezy for me.....

Nothing against U2, I respect them, but I thought it was pretty ridiculous. What is this, the WWF? Sad, very sad. I long for the days when CBS had the NBA way back when and it was just about showing the game (not that CBS would be any different than NBC now).

The band was nice but I thought they were going to perform it as the actual halftime show in the Staples Center. That would have made it a bit more interesting and appropriate.

I didn't get to go to the Elevation Tour concert at Compaq - It was on a Monday night...I don't go to school in Houston.

Last night, I actually got to see more than a 5 second clip of the concert. People who don't like U2 probably thought it was cheesy. I thought it was pretty cool of NBC and U2, and U2 made no mention that they were on live during halftime of the Finals (except for Bono throwing the basketball into the crowd [looked like a WNBA ball]}. U2 was having a concert in Boston last night with or without the NBA and NBC.

Ahmad or a cheesy halftime gimmick? I'm going with the cheesy halftime gimmick.

I still love Ahmad because back in the day he was a breath of fresh air, but it seems he's fallen into that category of very bland. Kenny Smith and Charles are examples how it should be done, ahem, Ahmad. Tell it like it is. None of these chippy haltime things like, "The lakers are playing well. They need to dump the ball into shaq some more." What do you think KJ. "I agree." what do you think PJ. "Yeah, me too. IT's that simple." I mean duh. Give me some of that living room feeling I get from TNT. way cool. That's why I loved U2. It pumped you up. Ahmad puts me to sleep. zzzzz......

When he threw the ball out into the crowd, he "welcomed" the NBA.

I think he yelled "NBA!" out once, at the end of the 1st song.

Personally, I thought it was great and the camera work reminded me of the movie Almost Famous. It felt like you were there. I would much rather have something like that over KJ and PJ. It was well done.

On the same note, MTV's live with Aerosmith didn't impress me at all.

I'm not, its mainly sports anaylists and front-office people, and not NBA players.

Davis is the only player participating, might have been fun, if they had used NBA players.

    Good call on this thread.

U2 was incredible as always, and as others have said it was a nice break from Kevin "Im still bitter about losing game 7 to the Rockets" Johnson and PJ "Why the hell is my voice hoarse all the damn time" Carlesimo.

One of the better moves by NBC. Lets just pray that tonights game wont have NSYNC!!!!

People in Houston didn't get to see last night's halftime - Celebrity Weakest Link cause Channel 2 sucks.

Channel 2 had to break in with news..."its raining". No ****. All the other stations without the NBA FINALS GAME 2 are covering it. We can flip to the news at anytime but we can only watch the NBA FINALS GAME 2 once.
