I don't know that he did get financially poorer as result of being President. His hotel did well during his term and numerous other conflicts of interest benefited his children. His legal fees based on his potential crimes may have resulted in him getting poorer, but he lies so frequently about his wealth few really know where it was to begin with or where it is now.
