Does anybody know what time the FIGHT is going to start? I'm planning on getting PPV but can't make it home until 10pm. It is going to start around 10:20pm or 9:30pm?

I'm talking about when Hopkins & Hoya fight.

There are two preliminary fights before DeLaHoya and Hopkins.

The first prelim begins at 8PM.

If both prelims go the distance, the main event will start around 10:30, I imagine.

If DeLaHoya wins tomorrow night, it would be an epic upset.

Thats why this fine will define his career.

He needs to win to establish his legacy.

If he loses, hell be just another good fighter, who couldn't win the big fights.

De La Hoya will win this fight. Hopkins has never been in the wars that De La Hoya has been in.

    Wars?

De La Hoya has been a bum for the last 4 years...

De La Hoya never disappointed, he was robbed vs. Trinidad who he beat fair and square. So I fail to see whats tarnished about him or the last 4 years of his career. I would have loved to see him more visibly upset when he was cheated though.
He's going to run train on Hopkins, then proceed to slaughter that chump Trindad.

    A little more condescening, please...

I do watch boxing and I do know that De La Hoya has more big fight experience than Hopkins. De La Hoya has fought all comers and has usually performed very well in big fights, including his destruction of Vargas in 2002 and what I believe was a superior performance against Shane Mosley last year. The last four years De La Hoya has been just fine, so you might want to take your ill-informed BS away. I am basing this as the reason that he will outlast the 39 year old Hopkins in a close fight. Where Hopkins could win this is in his size advantage and his tactical ability.

I could well be wrong about my prediction, but I tell you this: if you acted like such a jerk to me in person as you've done in this thread I would kick *your* ass until you learned some manners. There's no need to come in here talking smack about an someone's *opinion*- especially when you are demonstrably ignorant about De La Hoya's recent performance. Rather than be a little punk, demonstrate your superior boxing knowledge and break down the fight.

He cheated himself when he ran the last four rounds against Trinidad while his lead wasn't big enough. And if you believed he's been robbed, he was given a gift against Sweet Pea.

i think DLH can win this fight bec. he is really fast but the problem is that bernard is really big and can rough him up add to the fact that he has a hellacious chin. fernando is doing pretty well in his fight with oscar untill he got tired and of course he also has a crappy chin (roid didnt help him in that dept) which is not the case with bernard. With the sturm fight you can see that good jab can penetrate oscars new defense and that his power did not come with him in 160 and of course the judges favored DLH shoe polisher that sturms solid shots. there is a big chance that oscar can get Kod for the 1st time but oscar always comes up big in big fights.

I see we have another "Internet Asskicker" huh? LMAO! Pathetic. Go back to your Mortal Kombat game, guy.

Anyway, I don't know anything about De La Hoya's recent record do I? Hmmm... musta slept through those 3 De La Hoya fights I actually went to while in Vegas. Maybe I overstated things by calling him a "bum," but he sure as hell hasn't done anything worthy of his hype the last few years.

    Let's see now:

De La Hoya ends 1999 with a loss to Felix Trinidad. Sorry, he flat out lost the fight. You can't just run around like a little girl for the last few rounds and EXPECT to win. There's a reason those last few rounds are known as the "Championship Rounds." This also after he had to go the distance to beat Carr & Quartey - not exactly earth shakers in terms of fighting legends. In 2000 he beats a nobody (Coley), then gets his ass beat by Mosley.

In 2001 he wins two fights against the punching bag that is Gatti, and then has to go 12 rounds to beat Castillejo. In 2002 he fights only ONCE, again having to go a long way to beat a very overrated Vargas. The next year he beats up on the aging Yory Boy, then goes on to lose AGAIN to Mosley - whining the whole time. This year he almost got taken down by Felix Sturm - someone he was supposed to handily trash.

So let's see now, he lost all 3 fights he had with the generally acknowledged badasses (Mosley & Trinidad).

Oscar de la Hoya is the most overhyped fighter of his generation. I don't even wanna hear anymore whining about how he got "robbed" in those 3 fights either. Great fighters win those kind of fights. They don't whine & cry, and they don't run around ducking in the late rounds.

There's a reason Oscar is still not universally accepted by Mexican boxing fans. He's weak. He complains. He makes excuses & he whines. Go back and watch some tapes of Oscar fighting other Mexican boxers. Other than the woman who cheer foir him b/c he's good looking, see who the Mexican fans are REALLY rooting for. It sure as hell isn't Oscar.

im goin with The undisputed middle weight champion of the world Bernard "the Executioner" Hopkins. Oscar is gonna get beat down, he is washed up and only in this fight for the payday. Any true boxing fan will tell u oscar got his ass kicked by Felix Sturn. He was out of shape and if he is for this fight may God have mercy on his soul cause his ass belongs to Hopkins.

anyway a freind of mine from highschool trains at Hopkins Upper Darby gym. I also see this fight as LA versus Philly and I am goin wit the city of Brotherly Love over the city of angels.

Well, Burt Sugar, you told me why Mexican fight fans don't REALLY root for Oscar De La Hoya :)rolleyes: does anyone REALLY care about this?), why he is the most overhyped fighter of generation (because he lost three debatable decisions to Felix Trinidad and Shane Mosely?) and why his victories were only against old, overrated, or flawed fighters. Fine. Two questions: what did Oscar do to you? You are waaaay too bitter about a fighter who is about the only one out there fighting all comers. This pretty boy who you seem to think only got there because the media and his female fanbase won those belts for him has nevertheless taken on everybody out there for nearly 10 years, dude. No other champion is doing this.
Second question: why are you picking Hopkins? He's the favorite for a reason and I understand his size advantage. What about his game matches up against De La Hoya's speed and punch? You are not alone in picking Hopkins, but surely you have something to say about him rather than go on with your well-practised De La Hoya diatribe. You sound irrational.
Last point, high roller: I don't care if you *are* Bernard Hopkins- you acted like an ******* in this thread for no reason and I can promise you that I would not tolerate that face to face. I'm tired of know-it-all jerks like you who think their opinion is minted in platinum and everybody else is a moron. You took the tone of this thread and reduced it to a hostile my-dick-is-bigger than yours contest over an opinion about a fight. Did somebody say pathetic? Look in the mirror.
