If you could choose 1 non star or superstar to add to this team via trade or free agency, who and why? Mine: Johnathan Isaac. The defense and length at the 4 would be incredible to add to the frontcourt. 37% from 3 this year.
Great thread. Can’t argue with Jonathan Issac. I love him. I guess I’d say Naz Reid or Josh Hart. I’ve coveted both for a while. I’m also a Nic Claxton guy. Tari and Amen are my two favorite rockets. Do u see a trend?
OG Anunoby. Original Gangster. Derrick White .....we do not need more Greens but more Walter Whites. Luguentz Dort. One of the Original 'Thunder Cats' gets it rolling. Nickeil Alexander Walker - Cousin of Shai Gilgeous Alexander
I would trade Dillon Brooks - Fred VaVleet $62M x Paul George $52M Then bring in Tyus Jones and Jalen Smith......move Tate/Jeff Green/Steven Adams
Brooks and picks for Mikal Bridges. We already had almost a championship calibre defense so we at least maintain that. Meanwhile as our 3rd scorer (a lot of off ball), Bridges' excellent shooting will improve our spacing and make things easier on Sengun/Green. Brooks is a barely average shooter who's really bad in transition, we would look significantly better offensively with Bridges. I really like this move as a minimally disruptive and low risk upgrade. Wouldn't trade any of the core for Bridges but cashing in a pick or two plus Brooks is a good deal.
Does Joe Harris have any basketball left? Is there any way he can return to what he was a few seasons ago? Or is he toast?
Is Jaren Jackson Jr considered a star? If he is, then here are a few guys: OG Anunoby (wait, is he a star?) Lu Dort Alex Caruso I think Jonathan Isaac would be the other easy answer for me if I was more confident he is going to continue to stay healthy.
. I'm not high on Lu Dort like most. Seems a slightly better Dillon Brooks that you need to limit offensively. OG would be more an improvement
It does say "dream" pickup, but for any trade of a really good player, you are going to have to give up significant chunks of the team to get them. Don't really want to do that at this point. Would rather see what the young players develop into. My dream free agency pickup this year would be Tyus Jones. A reliable point guard that should be able to help limit FVV minutes and step up when FVV is inevitably dinged up. Also insurance for when/if the FVV contract is packaged in a deal to upgrade or consolidate some talent. Don't see him wanting to come here to be an immediate backup though.
Caruso is the only one here that has a realistic shot at as those other guys you mentioned are long term parts of those team's future plans. OG just got traded to the Knicks and has been massively successful. Lu Dort is OKC's defensive specialist. And the Grizzles are expecting to be back in contention next season with a healthy Ja where Jackson is a long term part of their future plans with Ja. The Bulls however are in the verge of tearing it all down for a rebuild and Caruso definitely can be available.
