The team just seems lackadaisical, no one is having fun and no one takes the type of leadership that Correra had to pump up hose around him. It seems like most are going through the motions, dont get me wrong I am sure it sucks for them to keep losing but show some emotion...............I would love to see Breggy take a bat to the gatorade jug after one of his infamous pop up`s. I dont buy Dana Brown saying they won't be sellers at the deadline, if Breggy is struggling I think he is gone. Post Season Breggy is still a thing (I hope)........maybe you get a decent prospect or two. I love me some Breggy but I think he is putting too much pressure on himself in a contract year. Finally, can we get at least one break, it seems if it can go wrong for us it does in spades For the old timers like me, this is me after every loss
This is the part that worries me the most. Can't we just quietly bring Luhnow back and put him in charge again? He'll have another 7 year dynasty up and running by 2026 if not sooner. We can keep it on the downlow. Like a behind the scenes kind of deal.
There are certainly no guarantees firing Espada would do anything even if you really don't like the guy. I think firing the manager mid-season is more of a "**** it, why not" hail mary type move where it's not expected to work but everything else has been tried already and failed. I don't know if there really is a solution for this FO. Even if Brown is successful in his drafts, the way the FO is currently structured and operates is going to eventually fall apart.
Did they play harder under Dusty? Beginning to think so. It’s in the past, but this team was within 1 game of a WS appearance. Now they don’t seem to be much of a threat to anyone.
Espada being scolded like a child by an umpire (a few games ago on a balk call) and him cowering down like a b*tch was one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen, and showed me all I needed to know about him. Anyone talks to me like that (right or wrong), my ass would be in his face so fast you’d see burn marks in the grass! lol He commands no respect from the league or his players and we’re seeing the result.
TBH... that cvck Junior Valentine (yeah no **** prob a WPP name) has always tried to nolube the Stros....
Part of me wants Espada fired, but name one coach who would win anything with France, Arghetti, Hunter, Dubon, etc. Everyone knows pitching wins games. Someone in the FO should be held accountable first before Espada
somebody needs to tranq-dart Joe with some Gamma radiation (or some dirty test) so he can HULKtf up and put some of these house-dealers on notice...
Valid point, they knew starting pitching was going to be a question mark and did absolutely nothing about it. A smart GM would have sold high on Brown, Spencer, & whoever else to get Dylan Cease, who was known to be available and killing it this season!
It’s no longer about that. Get someone in there who can at least provide a spark for players to give a damn.
If you look for what is different from last season it comes down to Espada. Plain and simple. Brown has allowed it to continue for far too long. Brown has failed to bring up bench players with at least the potential to be better. Day in and day out we need a manager.
The Astros have held on to players and overspent on over the hill free agents that are negative contributors. They are on course to become the same team that Crane first bought all those years ago. Without a correction now in a couple of years the Astros will be right back where Luhnow found them. I am too old to go through that **** again. I will be dead by the end of a complete rebuild so I am obviously hoping for culling, drafting well, and moving ahead with the prospects we have along with those we pick up in the next couple of years.
The pitching is completely different Last year we had a MUCH better bullpen and just that alone has cost us enough games to make the whole thing totally different
I'm generally never in favor of firing a manager this early, but these guys look lifeless. There's nothing positive happening out there, and, fair or not, someone has to take ownership of that failure. There needs to be some accountability from someone. I don't think it's entirely Espada's fault, per se, but he's definitely not getting the most out of these guys.
This was pretty plain to see last night after Tuckers HR in the first. No big smiles, no goofing around in the dugout as he returned. Looked like a bunch of men standing in line with the wife waiting for the store to open on black Friday
