Have been living the Travel Ball life for the last 5 years. Son is going into 7th grade and is moving up to 13u. The journey is a full time job, but so fun watching these kids get better and stronger.

Any Select Baseball parents out there?

All of it goes by so quickly...I love that you're enjoying it.

My older son focused on basketball by 7th grade, so we did the same with hoops. Now we coach together in a hoops program through a nonprofit we've been connected to for years.

My assistant's son plays select ball, and he's in high school now. He's the only freshman called up to be on the varsity playoff roster at his school. Great kid and terrific player. I get updates from her nearly every day on how he's doing :)

Travel basketball team for 1 child and local league and coach for 2 smaller ones. My mental system is fried but I love it.

    Here's a good book recommendation for kids:[IMG]

My 11yo daughter joined select softball late last fall, and this spring is her first full season. There was a huge learning curve coming up from rec, especially when it came to the quality of the pitchers she's facing, but she's making huge strides and is loving it.

Oh man I miss it so much, we did travel baseball and soccer before settling on soccer only at U13, which killed his baseball coach as my son was the SS and a pretty good pitcher.....

But in soccer we traveled the country, he got scholarship offers from Michigan, Umass, Duke, Northeastern and a few others - but ultimately he got a full academic ride for Civil and Nuclear engineering at Utah, so he hung up his boots and does club and intramurals now.

All I can say is it goes by so fast, and kids are fickle, don't let em get burned out, it should be fun for them.

And I will say, after 15 years, after losing in the Quarterfinals of Nationals in South Carolina his Sr. Year in HS, it was over in a snap, and my weekends were free - and I HATED not having another game to go to.

I ended up buying a 15' camera arm with a 4k camera and monitor and recorded all the games from 8th grade on, still watch em from time to time....good stuff.
