cbs sportsline has been doing a series of preseason player ranking and the latest one released was shooting guards. As expected they ranked kobe bryant #1 and Tmac #2. They gave the edge to Kobe bc of his defense and all around floor game. The knock on Tmac was the fact the Magic had such a poor record last year and he quit on his team and the end of the year. What I found most surprising about this article though was the lack of even a mention of Cuttino Mobely. They mentioned players like Eddie Jones, Larry Hughes, Allan Houston, and Jason Richardson, but no respect for Cat. Granted, some of these guys were alot better a couple years ago/ or have tremendous potential for the future, but right now I'd think youd have to rate cuttino as one of the top 10 sgs. i was wondering what everybody else thought about these rankings. They also already rated the centers. Yao was second as well behind Shaq. player rankings
mobley is consistently overlooked. i mean larry hughes is an honorable mention? that guy even lost his potential tag 2 years ago.
c'mon guys lets not get carried away, as big a rockets fan as i am, theres no way you can justify saying mcgradys defense is as good as bryant's. Maybe he has the potential to be, but right now its no where near as good as Bryant's D.
that just gave me a big smile to my face and chills in my spine. ever since tmac started rivalry with kobe, i thought he is better than kobe. this ankle breaker is right next to or above ai's ankle breaker to mj and stephon's ankle breaker to yao (poor yao.. man, it hurts everytime i see that, but i gotta admit, that was one hell of a crossover). ei, tmac can do that to kobe more since they are meeting 4 times now. man, this is gonna be an awesome rivalry for years to come.
i needed a good laugh before bed and seeing ginobili at #5 hit the spot. how overrated can one man be? from what i recall last year he came off the bench behind turkoglu. since i didn't see hedo at #4, i'll just assume cbs sportsline is crazy. and mobley can't even get an honorable mention that goes about 10 deep? a guy who can score 20 as a second option, can drain 3's, and plays great D? man, gimme some larry hughes over that.
Huh? McGrady had a year with avg. 2 blocks a game and another year with 1.65 steals and 7.9 boards. Kobe never had more than a block, 6.9 boards and 2.2 steals. Only a Kobe fanboi would say these defenseive stats are not comparable.
He's right, Kobe does have good defense...in the courtroom Thats about the only place. Shaq had a lot to do with the Defense in L.A. We'll see how Kobe does now or the lakers as a team.
We got the second best guard and the second best center in the league, so who cares if Kobe is number 1? We gonna whoop faker's sorry ass anyway(with respect to Rudy).
Does the 24 pt 4th quarter Bryant had on Tracy fit in a gif? So I guess AI is a PG now? Lebron James is a SF now? Why he rates, Hamilton, Redd, and Manu in front of Vince Carter is beyond me, nobody would ever decline a trade of Vince Carter for any of those guys, maybe Manu I guess. The reason Mobley doesn't get too much respect is because he's not that good at anything on offense besides scoring, not a good ball handler, passer or playmaker, and his rebounding could use some improvement. His defense is great, but he has to improve his overall offensive game to something outside one on one play, that's what I think. Ben Wallace at 7 is RIDICULOUS! The guy has been an MVP canidate for the past few years now and he rates a clown like Erik Dampier in front of him. What about AK-47 at 7 in his SF rankings? I'd take him in front of Jefferson, Marion, AND his #1 SF Ron Ron Artest, come on now, imagine any of those players on Utah last season. Do they win 42 with Jefferson, Marion or Artest instead of him? I don't thinks so! Wow! To top off the horrible picks at number 7 he has Rasheed Wallace behind Chris Webber and Elton Brand. Now maybe that bothers me because Rasheed is one of my all time favorites, I dislike Webber, and Brand disappoints every year, but didn't he just win a ring? Therefore destroying that public perception that Rasheed Wallace is some kind of locker room cancer, even though every player or coach that has ever been around him thinks the exact opposite. For the grand finale who does he plan on making the 7th best PG in the league? Hmm... Well, considering the fact that Sam Cassell wasn't even on his top 10 list last season, he'll probably have him there, or Mike Bibby, or Baron Davis, either way I predict total suckage.
After looking over the "Also reiving consideration" I'm not too sure what to think. Larry Hughes is crap, Derek Anderson hasn't done jack sense??? The Cat gets no luv...
That move right there is a travel by the definition is it not? He established his pivot and took another step from the other foot.
