4- he needs contact because he is slow to go past anyone, and he needs the space from the contact since he doesnt jump while shooting.
    5. flexible? he bends back because he doesnt know how to shoot. he cant jump and shoot. one of the most fundamental basketball knowledge. jumpshot! thats why he bends back. thats why he gets blocked. thats why all his shots are hook or circus or dirk etc. this summer he should get a shooting coach and try making jumpshots. not static lazy slow shots. catch and shoot shots where u jump up.

saying you wouldnt trade him for Edwards is so tragic, dont say it in any public place.

4- No, whether you are fast or slow, ability and willingness to take contact is a completely separate skill. He is very good at it and he is willing to do that. Every player is a combination of his skill set. Yes, it would be better if sengun was much faster and good at contact but he is very good only at the second but that is not because of the first.

5- Ability to create separation is a completely different skill than being able to shoot. Green is good at separation but cannot shoot well. And Sengun uses his ability to bend mostly when he is going to the rim, it is extremely valuable to have that skill that enables him to finish taller, more athletic players.

At least read the post you quoated. Who said anything about Edwards? I think that's how the crazy sof image is made, things that are said by 10 different people are made into one imaginary sof poster,

He's a better defender than Jokic and Sabonis

4th worst rim defender in the league isn't really the brag you think it is. Surprised to see supposed defensive genius Evan Mobley in the top 10 worst list though.

I see multiple people who are known for good rim protection like Mobley and Turner on this list which tells me that this stat isn't a great predictive indicator of "good defense".

Yeah that's a good point to be fair.

Turner is not a good defender anymore, he used to be but that part of his game is dead. He’s pretty bad, it’s just the name at this point. The most important part of rim protection is preventing rim attempts. That is what Dwight so special and why you could put 4 awful defenders around him and have a good defense. If players are not afraid to attack you, it almost doesn’t matter how good you are at contesting those shots.

If you take these stats without context, yes. "Min. 6 DFGA Per Game" cuts out a lot of players that give up layups without even trying to contest. (Or they don't have the IQ to be in the right spot at the right time...)

Alperen made a huge defensive jump this year, both in terms of his number of contests, and the defense he provided on those contests.

If he makes one more jump defensively, we are looking really good.

It is actually good/promising considering he aims to be the type of player Jokic and Sabonis is. He is 21 and already better than them which is their main weakness. He is not aiming to compete with the best there, he aims to be average.

He needs some kick-boxing training to incorporate Draymond Green's talent. :D

The two best players in the playoffs right now are limited physically, but gifted in terms of footwork, awareness and tempo control.

Jalen Brunson and Nikola Jokic. You could even add Luka to this conversation If you wanted to.

When assessing certain players, you can take the physical measurables and shove them you know where.

I think, and have always thought, that Alperen Sengun will become one of these unique players.

Bruno Fernando is not one of these players.
Mo Bamba is not one of these players.
Myles Turner is not one of these players.
