Jeff Rocks This Saturday I'm playing with two different bands on the same night at the same venue. The Rhythm Room this Saturday, September 18. At between 9 and 9:30pm, I play with Stacey Steger. She's a great singer/songwriter. Her voice is kinda like Gwen Stefani/Avirl and the music is bluesy rock in the vein of the first Liz Phair record. The drummer I play with in my other bands and I played on 7 songs on her new record and my guitar player engineered and produced it. I'm just sitting in while they look for a new bass player. At around 10:30pm, I play with Slapshifter, one of my regular bands and a band gwaynco has on his Live365 mix. Should be fun. I've got a busy couple of weeks musically. In addition to Saturday, I'm playing with my other band, orange is in, at the Rhythm Room next Thursday and sitting in with my violinist's Celtic band Paisley Close at Ovation's next Friday. Come one. Come all.
What happens when those bands have conflicting bookings? First booked? Most Money? Most potential for future revenues?
Can't make it, but if I was there and I requested a rocked out version of the birthday song, would you have been able to do that?
Cool. I'm looking forward to it. By the way, if anybody in a band has something recorded(either CD or bootleg of a show), I'd be very happy to to add it to the station. The genre doesn't matter to me - I have stuff from Slapshifter to Sophie Tucker on there.
Thanks for coming out gwayneco! As for this, my decision is made in this order: 1. First to book the gig. 2. Priority of band. One of my main bands always gets first dibs on dates. 3. How soon is the show? If the show is 6 weeks off and one of my main band needs to book on a date I have a gig with someone else, there's a chance I'll cancel. The good thing is that my drummer and my guitarist are the same in both my primary bands. So, rarely do we have conflicts. By the way, Slapshifter's new website is up and running. Not quite done with all the text, but I think it came out pretty good. http://www.slapshifter.com/
It was fun as always. The raid by the SWAT team was interesting. Oh, wait, that was my sister's wedding. Got mixed up there as it's getting so late it's early.
