He was a borderline disaster on offense today. At least 5-6 times where he would get the ball and have a deer in the headlights look and turn the ball over. You can tell the physicality of the playoffs is too much for him

Mobley was decent as a rookie and has basically flatlined, which is disappointing. I don't think that makes him a bust. I always felt his upside was limited.

He'll always be an average to slightly above-average player. As long as a team doesn't give him a giant contract, he can fit on a championship roster.

After they campaigned and built him up so much you think he won't get a giant contract? Once Mitchell leaves he is the next face of Cleveland, you argue he has been the face all this time with how much they rizz him up so I'd be shocked if he doesn't get a max or near max deal.

He looked frustrated fighting for balls and the Magic would force a jump ball.

I am sure he would look better than this but yep I am not expecting anything from this onward though.

Big issue for Mobley is that he absolutely needed to make a leap offensively to offset his mental limitations. He has great defensive tools but he is absolutely not Bam/JJJ from an aggression standpoint on that side of the ball.

I thought the rockets would be cursed for 10,000 years because they messed up and passed on this guy.

Evan Mobley can walk from one end of the court to the other in 3 strides.

What happened is the Rockets and their draft bust are still missing the playoffs while the Cavs are on to the 2nd round after their lock down defender dominated the boards in the first round.

I mean the cavs only won 7 games more than the rockets, the cavs play in the east, and the backcourt and jarrett allen were the ones that were the most impactful for the cavs this year

For one he didn’t even average double digit rebounds. So dominate is being kind.

I would hope they make the playoffs in the east. Their entire rotation besides Mobley is 24-28 years old. If they didn’t make it to the second round in the east with that average age they were believed to be considering making changes.

If Amen Cam Tari Sengun Jabari 24-28 years old and Green was 22 I would hope all those “busts” were able to collectively to make some type of noise in the playoffs and escape with an exciting game 7 in the eastern conference.

7 more games makes the Rockets the 8 seed.

Also, while it's true there are more impactful players on the Cavs, Jalen is an anchor around the Rockets neck.... and Mobley did just win a pivotal game 5 with a clutch block at the end of the game...

When comparing a good but not great player to a terrible player, there's no contest.

They aren't in the playoffs or went into the 2nd round due to Mobley. If they switched places Jalen would be in the 2nd round and Mobley would be watching at home.

well yea, that's my point; the cavs would be 8th if they were regulated to the west.

I just don't see a lot of offensive development in the last 3 years from mobley and he wasn't very good in game 6. Jalen has his own warts like having 2 kids at age 22

Please. The East is a joke. The 2nd seed won only 50 games and 36 wins was enough for the Hawks to make the play-in. Over in the West, the Warriors needed 10 more wins to finish 10th place.

It's true that Mobley still needs to work on his offense... but there's actually something he's good at and there's nothing Jalen Green is good at.

    That's the difference.

One is a quality starter, the other has no business logging more than garbage time minutes overall.

i’m not that big a fan of jabari’s game but i am glad we have him over mobley, who’s pretty much useless on offense and nearly as dumb as some of the posters here. celts are going to embarrass this kid

It is funny to track former players careers, hindsight and father time trump them all.

Mobley blocks 5 shots and grabs 16 boards in a Game 7 win to advance and this board is crapping on him? He had massive impact on that series defensively, including a blocked shot on a Franz iso to win game 5.

He's not there offensively and may never get there to be a top-tier player and he clearly doesn't have that alpha mode like ANT, but his defense is still elite and he shot 37% from 3 this year. Elite defense + knocking down open 3s + very good at finishing lobs is still a very good player.
