It's one thing to deal with losses, it's deflating and exhausting losing the way we have in so many games this year. When you go into a season thinking on paper you got the best 7th, 8th, and 9th pitcher rotation in baseball. Then you are close to probably leading the league in runs given up in the first or after the 8th at this point.
Water finds it's level. As bad as it's been, they're not 1-9 in one run games bad. Lots of lots of overlapping slumps and underachieving.
This has been a frustrating year for sure, we cant seem to catch any breaks. I loved the Hader signing but if he doesn't turn it around and we continue to under achieve I think he and the Syros will want to part ways, maybe he just needs a new scenery or maybe the pressure of the HUGE deal is too much for him at this moment................Singleton has pleasantly surprised me over the past week.
I think of it like the Verlander deal last year. We will have to offset the contract by paying some of it. But I think there is a trade partner out there.
I understand your point, but think if the SLG is high enough to get overall OPS 700 or better and you are an excellent defender at a defense first position has a place in this league. Maybe it's the 8th or 9th hitter as the weakest bat in a lineup. Maybe it's a platoon starter. Maybe it's a bench spot. He has a career .316 OBP and .769 OPS vs LHP and it's. 316 and .878 in SSS this year. Espada used him perfectly Saturday and it paid off.
Hader's problem is location and throwing too many fastballs. When Hader misses the plate, he misses badly the batter doesn't need to challenge any of them. He needs to throw the edges of the plate to get calls. He needs to smarten throwing the ball, it seems like 3/4 of the pitches are fastballs. Sunday was a game we would win 9 out of 10 games, but not this year. There are no positive coming out of the game. No managers would win yesterday's game. Maybe Jimmy Crane needs to speak out.
Bat Bregman ninth, then maybe if he starts hitting again, Altuve can drive him in, I don’t know. This is depressing.
