My answer is no. Discuss. P.S.: This is of course just to mimic the silly "Can Sengun become Jokic" thread.
No, but Anthony Edwards is trending towards being atop 3 player in the NBA for years. That being said Green could become a top 3 2 guard in today's NBA
Nope. Not even close on the defensive end. Best case for Jalen's career and legacy is something along the lines of Allen Iverson, a guy who can consistently score a lot of points but on so-so efficiency, and never wins a title. Best case for the Rockets is closer to Jamal Murray, a guy who knows his role and can turn it on when needed.
Sengun wont become Jokic, but hopefully he becomes Sengun. Green wont become Edwards, but hopefully he becomes Green.
Jalen has to tighten his handles and become a LOT stronger to even think about it. He also has to embrace defense as a big part of his identity. I've always respected Ant's commitment to defense.
Someone on here told me a couple months ago anthony edwards wasn’t fit to be face of the nba but jalen green has the superstar look too.
It’s crazy to think that a year or two ago quite a few evaluators were taking Green over Edwards long term.
Different Draft. Voters picked LaMelo Ball over Anthony Edwards for Rookie of the Year. Voters look real bad, looking back at it.
Jalen Green really needs to prove himself in Strength and Lateral Defense, Ball Handling, Shooting Technique on 3 pointers. He must focus everything on Working Out, Playing Pickup with Alperen Sengun.
Can he become Edwards? Highly unlikely. But if these playoffs have shown anything, it's that you need a dynamic high scoring guard to go anywhere in the playoffs (SGA, Luka/Irving, Edwards, Jamal Murray, Tatum/Brown, Brunson, D. Mitchell). So for the Rockets sake, we better hope March 2024 Jalen Green is what we can expect to see more consistently in the future, or we're not going anywhere.
I still would vote LaMelo over Ant for the then rookie of the year ngl. Two utterly different things, end product vs first year production.
