I never wear ties for work. Even today when I had a meeting with a code official I wore a button down shirt with a v- neck sweater and black slacks. I was dressed better than the code official and my client who is a developer. The only times I wear a tie are when I referee Judo tournaments as wearing a suit is required of referees and often during gigs. My stage look is much fancier than what I wear normally.
