Impending 'large-scale massacre' in capital of Sudan's North Darfur

This is disturbing on so many levels. The ethnic Darfuri are being exterminated by the militias like the Rapid Support Forces and the Janjaweed of Sudan. More than 400,000 non-Arabs have been killed since 2003. And now the RSF/Janjaweed want to massacre the Sudanese Armed Forces. And even then, it's just a proxy war in the bigger great game.

UAE (supporting RSF), Russia (Supporting RSF), Egypt (supporting the Sudanese military), Ethiopia (supporting anyone that is likely to win), Ukraine (supporting the military to fight Russia Wagner), Saudi (mostly the military), Chad (supporting RSF. By helping UAE deliver weapon including Arab tribes from chad fighting for RSF), USA (mostly neutral, looking to support civilian government), Iran (supporting the army with drones), Libya (supporting RSF with mercenaries and fuel).

The Rapid Support Forces is a paramilitary force formerly operated by the Government of Sudan. The RSF grew out of, and is primarily composed of, the Janjaweed militias which previously fought on behalf of the Sudanese government. Its actions in Darfur qualify as crimes against humanity in the opinion of Human Rights Watch.

RSF has been administered by the National Intelligence and Security Service, while during military operations it has been commanded by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). As of June 2019, the commander is General Hemedti (Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo). During the Sudanese political crisis of 2019, the military junta that took control of the country employed RSF to violently crack down on pro-democracy demonstrators. Along with other security forces, RSF carried out the Khartoum massacre on 3 June 2019.

On 15 April 2023, fighting broke out between RSF and the SAF after RSF mobilized its forces in cities across Sudan, including in Darfur. SAF has designated RSF a rebel group. RSF forces claim to have occupied Khartoum International Airport and other areas in Khartoum.

 

"Early March 2024, the UN Panel of Experts on Sudan, mandated by Resolution 2620 (2022) of the UN Security Council, published their latest report. It described the wide-ranging devastation and violence in the country, caused in many cases by the RSF and associated militias. With regard to war crimes in West Darfur, the report estimated the death rate through ethnic cleansing of the Masalit community in El Geneina between 10,000 and 15,000. In her speech before the Security Council Committee, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US Representative to the United Nations, commented: "It is my hope that the sobering report will at long last shake the world from its indifference to the horrors playing out before our eyes.""

 

I don't mean to be a naysayer, but the Bronze Age site has already been destroyed and for all intents and purposes the bronze age collapse was the Armageddon for the ancient times. The Egyptians even made a relief about it. As far as I concerned, all this talk about Armageddon is in the past and we are so far past even the Iron age at this point. Post-Atomic. Post-Space Age. Even Post-Information Age. We are in the AI Era now.

 

And yet it was the same playbook used against Sudan too. All college students can do is protest to raise awareness and ask their university to divest from the perpetrators.
