Mostly, yes, I think it is. A significant amount of people are dealing with gambling addiction, and because of this, most of them have personal and professional problems. Gambling nowadays is advertised everywhere and anytime, and it is hard to control yourself when you see commercials with casinos everywhere.

But the modern American economy is built purely on a group/s of people crushing segments of other people to elevate themselves - so this fits the bill.

I will agree that gambling addiction is a real issue for many, creating both personal and professional challenges.

I enjoy sports betting and wish it was legal in TX…it’s fun, but I don’t go crazy with it nor do I do it that often

Don't have an issue if others partake, I just wish it wasn't so in your face (like now with the NBA).

When there's lot of money involved, more people become susceptible. There's always been a Donaghy, and maybe a fringe player like Jontay. The concern is the rise in volume and visibility. Adam Silver done some good stuff as commissioner, but going to bed with gambling is a black mark, IMO. He couldn't grow the league more organically and took a shortcut.

Folks here could be a responsible adult, but I can't say that for the other young adults out there. Plus, when these fans lose (big), you hear harassment incidents to coaches (Bickerstaff) and players (Tatum and others).

People can gamble responsibility, but not everyone is you guys.

Is sports betting a key contributor to the dead internet?

I saw yt ads of an app where you can bet on current events.

I guess if you can make bets on futures and options while calling yourself an investor or "liquidity facilitator", then this **** is fair game.

Look across the landscape of society.
There are all kinds of "crimes" that are seen as social ills
    Gambling is one of them
The thing is . . . you cannot stop it. . . . so we decided to legalize
    and try to control it
    Same with mar1juana
maybe even some other drugs eventually

The question becomes . . . should we try to legalize and control them all

The prevelance of them encourages more people to do it
    but
The harder criminal elements of it are suppressed.

i.e. More Crackheads less drive bys

Ask Tilman to open fewer casinos.....I think the marketing of it all has more to do with people seeing this as a goldmine, I wish it was not that way but that is what it is.

At the end of it, it is still Capitalism at its finest.

I will agree that gambling addiction is a real issue for many, creating both personal and professional challenges. The constant barrage of gambling advertisements, whether online or offline, doesn't make it any easier for those trying to resist. I've noticed this, particularly as someone who enjoys online casinos like playing Plinko it's just a hobby for me, a way to unwind. It's crucial to keep such activities in the realm of fun and entertainment. I hope that, as awareness grows, fewer people will fall prey to the severe consequences of gambling addiction.
