Texans obviously have a cluster of guys in the 7th they have a good feeling about. Perhaps to put on practice squad, or for fellas that have one elite skill the Texans think they can harness into their scheme.
I was thinking the same thing. His name immediately came to mind. Curious what he'd cost, but they still have some salary they could shed if they needed to.
You know what….grab Michael Pratt. Groom him as CJ’s backup. He could be better than Mills and give us a cheap look at likely a 5th round talent in the 7th.
It's possible they have decided to focus on 7th rounders to replace many of the UDFAs they usually sign immediately after the draft since they now have depth which makes them less desirable for those just trying to earn a spot in camp. While the Texans are now more desirable for experienced FAs, sticking as an UDFA is much harder.
The Texans have to scrap the barrel with undrafted players for DLine help (or FA - not sure what is still out there, and how much cap space we do have). These are the picks that GMs that have really good team...hit on for depth and back up roles
