Answer: when the CBT salary went over $250M and Crane said no more spending until the trade deadline.
******* Jon Slingleton has an OPS of under .600 and he doesn't play defense. Interesting fact of the day about Jonathan Singleton - he has played four seasons in the big leagues and has never had a positive offensive or defensive WAR.
INSANITY!! Doing same **** over and over and expecting different results. Crane and this FO about to lose a lot of fans in this town.
Cooper looks very similar to Singleton in terms of exit velo and hard hit%. Cooper has struck out at a higher clip than Singleton and walked less. The difference is barrel rate and launch angle. Singleton has more power and patience than Cooper, he just doesn’t seem to be hitting the ball square and generating any loft. I am totally ok giving Singleton 100 more pa to see what he really is. He’s only gotten regular/extended playing time in the majors once: when he was a 22 year old pothead in 2014. It’s silly to suggest he’s the same player and that his infrequent playing time between now and then is a referendum; he’s been extremely good in AAA since he worked his way back in 2022. There’s half a dozen Garrett Coopers available at any given time for little to no cost.
Agreed and hasn't been available until now. He is exactly what the team should go after in this situation- a veteran 1B who can be paid the min. But if they sign him they must put Abreu on the IL or DFA Singleton. They can't have 3 players limited to 1B ( Cooper has played 1b and 3 inn. of LF since 2021) on the same roster.
Cooper would be nice because he gives us a good protected floor at 1B, but isn't at a point where he has to be guaranteed any playing time. We could always bring up one of the prospects and hope they outplay him. But at the least getting league average production would be huge, although not ideal from what should be an offense heavy position.
We couldn’t have signed cueto instead of all the dog **** that we put out there? Of course he’s going to **** us up now
Assuming Framber comes back with any kind of decent health and effectiveness and Blanco continuing to have a career year. We actually still have a decent 1-4 pitching lineup of JV, Framber, Javier and Blanco. Outside of that our pitchers are ass. Hunter Brown, JP France, Spaghetti throwing meatballs. We may have to depend on Bielak-ing to hold down the #5 spot. I wonder if we start to sit Pressly and Hader and have Montero, Martinez and Abreu as our 7-8-9. I'd say why wait. Let's shake it up now. Bring up Loperfido to play 1B and we may actually salvage a decent year.
Lulz. Cooper has a .774 OPS and we have a dumbass on here begging to give Jon ****ing Singleton more ABs. Cooper has had 1 season where is OPS was less than Singleton's career OPS. In the last 4 seasons he's had a .761 OPS, and has a .813 OPS for his career against LHP. He'd be a great floor for the position, teamed with Belt and his career .844 OPS against RHP could actually turn a 3 year weakness into a team strength, really last 4 out of 5 seasons.
We have dumbasses in the front office that want to start Abreu every 5 of 7 games essentially giving him to Maldonado treatment.
Dudes, hear me out. JAbreu for Maldy. We pay the difference in salary. Crazy, but i guess we obviously need Maldy (in a backup/managerial role, not to start). And we let Abreu go home for a retirement farewell
We’re taking this year off to reload with younger talents. We need a GM more than ever this year and hope Brown is they man. Hopefully the FO leave him the **** alone to do his job.
im not sold on Brown, he seems like a deer in headlights and the moment is too big for him. We probably should have kept Click. It would have been cool to match and surpass the Braves LCS appearance record. Man these guys need to pull their heads out of their butts and save this season already. They are too talented to be playing this bad.
