IF he does have a big revival with another club then that is a clue that you need to look at your own organization and see what YOU were doing wrong. However, that is a huge IF that he turns it around.
Yuli may have been worse at bat but even at being ancient years old, he made the rest of the infield's fielding better than Taylor Jones, Yainer, Abreu, Hensley, Dubon, etc.
I feels the same with the Hader signing. We already have a closer in Pressly and future closer in Abreu. Those guys are human so it has to effect them mentally too.
Don't care if he Revives or Not, Astros need to move on. Joey Loperfido must play Gull Time and he Bats Left Handed.
I feel bad for the guy, from all accounts he is a pro`s pro and it kills me to see him struggle but come on man, you cant keep putting him out there.........when he came up anytime this weekend you knew it was not going to end well, father time had caught up to him and he simply cant catch up to the heat............and that made his error yesterday stand out even that much more. Also, Singleton is not the answer.............we need a kick in the ass and this would help the process
I feel bad for him too. He definitely seems like a nice enough guy and is probably a good teammate. It’s got to be killing him which is only making it worse. To think that I was so stoked on his signing. I thought he would be a top five mvp candidate lol
The Cubs are DFA'ing 1B Garrett Cooper who currently has a .774 OPS. Granted, some of his stats are unsustainable...but he's still having a far superior season than Abreu...who remains employed. I am in no way saying we should sign Cooper. Just making a point that people are getting demoted/released for much less of a reason.
FWIW I agree and want to move on from Abreu. But it's a lot easier to cut a guy making $1.175M than one making $19.5M.
Definitely...but at some point a player is just unplayable regardless of salary. It's going to be a sunk cost no matter what because there's almost no scenario in which he's on this roster next season. Just a matter of how much they want to eat at this point...or maybe negotiate a buyout.
