Carlos Lee had 128 home runs and 410 RBI in his first four seasons in Houston. But he fell off pretty quick at the end of his career. He was out of the league at 36, but even at that point his batting average was still 200 points higher than Abreu’s is right now. I think Lee right now at 47 could come in and be a more productive first baseman. Brett Wallace could probably get above .100 batting average right now.
It's way past time. They have to do something with him or it's organizational malpractice at this point. Put him on the DL, send him down for rehab if you don't want to release the guy, but he has to be the worst player in baseball right now. Enough!
If they had scored it correctly the other night, Abreu would have as many errors as he does hits on the season. That's not ideal...
And for what it's worth, I'm not mad at Abreu. I'm sure he's trying and probably feels as bad about his performance as anyone. Cubans are generally VERY proud people. He doesn't want this. I'm certain he's embarrassed by it. No, I'm not mad at Jose, but I AM madder than hell at the Astros for putting their season at risk by continuing to run him out there. At this point it's an organizational failure. Everyone involved deserves blame for what the Astros are allowing to happen at first base right now.
Dude is toast. You have to give Loperfido the opportunity. He’s 25, not a prize prospect that needs protection, it’s time for him. He may bust or he’s the answer to a glaring hole that you can plug in the 7/8 slot. His K rate might be an issue, but anything is better than abreu
Watching him play in the field or try to hit are both depressing. I don't understand why we don't bring up Loperfido and give him a chance.
I don’t think so Mainly because I don’t think Crane is to that point yet, and Dana Brown don’t know come here from sick em
