When Brooks played poorly I'd like to think it was due to his injury. I love the presence he brings but hope his minutes are reduced when Tari comes back. He is valuable to this team and don't want to seem him moved unless and obvious upgrade.
I can’t imagine anyone trading anything of value for him, but teams do insane things sometimes so i guess you never know. If we could dump him by giving up a protected first i would in a heartbeat
Brooks has been a huge reason our competitive edge, toughness, and attention to detail has improved significantly as a team (Ime/FVV of course major factors as well).
Again, I disagree. He's a top 100 player on a non-max contract who is generally healthy. Those guys always have value.
Another Murray trade idea: FVV and this years RFP for Murray and Bojan. Hawks gain a top 10 pick and cap flexibility after next season. Murray and Bojan stabilize our backcourt while we figure out Green's potential. Murray / Green / Brooks / Smith / Sengun Amen / Whitmore / Bojan / Eason / Adams
Idk what ranking this is, but by BPM he ranked 178th out of 185, one spot ahead of jordan poole. Win shares he ranked 181st, WS/48 he was 158th, VORP he ranked 434 though that's mainly because he's at -0.1 so anyone who plays very very few minutes will put up 0 which is ahead of brooks. EPM ranks him 191st. Not sure how you can say he's top 100 when he's not even close by any metric.
I agree, I'd say Dillon is a top 200 player at best lol. That looks like the Ringer list which I think many folks have some disagreements with and is far from statistical consensus.
Do people watch basketball anymore or just use excel to judge an NBA player? Brooks may not be a top 100 player but the talk of needing a pick to "unload" Brooks is ****ing hilarious. Brooks is one of the three major reasons why we went from a team who doesn't care about defense (and flat out bad at it) to a scrappy, tough team with good defense and he is contributing to an ongoing path of this team forming an identity. Brooks helped us almost double our win total and negative players don't do that. With that being said, I'd consider moving Brooks if it made sense and that might happen in a year or two, but the way some talk about him here is hilarious.
This is all I'm saying. No one is claiming Brooks would fetch a haul, but we added a six foot PG and Brooks to our starting lineup and, basically overnight, our defense improved substantially. Are there people here who really think Brooks wasn't a massive part of that improvement?
Brooks would fetch a first round pic from a team, trying to make a big jump into the playoffs or further into the playoffs next year.
So there are some lists of top 100 NBA players out there for this 2024 season. I'm picking one (2k overall). This is not a debate to say Rockets player X is better than Rockets player Y. Or if our guys are robbed by having specific number. I'm interested in an approximate range of where they are right now. This being 2k; just strictly on their ability (price of contract is not factored in). Out of the Rockets core: currently only 4 made it. Sengun #44 Jalen #56 FVV #59 Amen #82 This means Jabari, Dillon, Cam, all missed the top 100 cut. If a legit contender means something in the effect of needing three top 50 guys: a Top 50, a top 25, a top 15. We're still kind of far. The second point i'm trying to make is that if people look at players in Top 16 - 30. If these guys are available, I've no doubt Stone would be interested. Price may vary. But if goal is to move a Alp (#44) or Jalen (#56) or Amen for a top 40 guy, more value (draft picks) have to be given up, that or Stone has to be really good at selling. Beginning of year ESPN had a list. FVV was in the 50's and I think Jalen was further back like in the 70's - 80's. My disclaimer earlier was less about person X ahead of person Y. More that our guys.. as promising as they are, are not in the top 40 range yet. And if Stone wants to move on a top 40 person, it will cost us. Also the people in #16 - #40, are not shabby at all, and could make the Rockets better.
also shocking Jalen Williams isn’t higher; shocking Jalen Green is right there with Harden and ahead of Bane. But this is certainly informative to see it all laid out like this. Thanks for posting.
Personally, I would consider moving Jalen for a young, top 40ish player, but I wouldn't move Sengun for anything but a young, top 20 player. Really, the lowest I'd go is Ant. I don't think I'd trade Sengun towards a guy like Fox, Sabonis, Young, Zion, etc. Amen, I have no idea what I'd trade him for -- it's way too early for me to gauge.
It would be beyond stupid to add assets to dump Dillon. If he isn’t traded as part of a package, he would be a terrific backup sf as Tari can back up both forward positions.Amen should be our starting sf until he takes over for FVV
We went from a horror show at PG to a good PG, that’s the easiest way to improve a team. If we didn’t have fvv we probably don’t win 30 games this season. Brooks was definitely part of the defensive improvement, no doubt about that. He’s also a HORRIBLE offensive player and it’s really hard to build an offense that can overcome him
