Seen bits and pieces in various threads, but figured it would be good to condense the convo here.

Why has Ryan Pressly not pitched since Friday? He was available Monday and Tuesday, and Espada chose other relievers over him.

Is he being traded? Is he hurt? Did Espada forget he has him? What's going on here?

There hasn’t been a good situation to use him. Hader should not have been used either. Pressly and Hader (and for the most part Abreu as well) should only be used in the late innings of a close game in which Houston is tied or leading.

Bingo. All three have not been used in the right capacity, and the hole is being dug deeper.

I really don't understand this mindset that your best relievers should never be used unless it's tied or you are winning close.

You go down one and then "Well, this one's probably lost, put in the crap pitchers" . I understand there has to be moderation when choosing to use them in those games, but a one run game is extremely winnable. It seems absurd to me to lock off the best half (theoretically) of your pen in those games.

Crazy dynamic because Pressly had stretches of overuse last year -- 3 consecutive games, and multiple 3 of 4's, and 4 of 6.

Last night was probably the first game he could've/should've pitched. He played 4x last week and was warming up day 8 or 9. He was well-rested by day 11.

Posters have already complained about his pitching with 1-run deficits. The only other option yesterday was maybe Whitley. Surely a few would've had something to say about that too.

Bottomline is the bullpen was gassed, Dubin was pitching and did pitch awesome, and he experienced some of the worst luck ever happening in one inning. This thread probably doesn't exist without a 67mph foul ball double scoring 2 runs with runners who blooped their way on base.
