So while still early , I think Crane needs to start thinking about making a move. Astros are supposed to contend , anything less than the playoffs is a massive disappointment given the ever shrinking window. Does he keep Espada ? Force a change in the lineup ? Or do we ride it out and hope for the best? I’d be tempted to let the team rectify things and make a decision in June but that may just be too late.
I feel like 2019 Bregman could lead this team but not sure now. Bring back Yuli as a bench warmer/coach?
Trying to stay positive, the series records don’t look nearly as bad: loss, win, tie, loss, win, loss. After tomorrow the Astros will be 2-3-1 in series this season. Getting swept by the Royals was ****ed. I am still hoping Verlander’s return that coincides with a softening of the schedule will be what the dr ordered. It is totally reasonable for them to finish the month 13-16. They they have their rotation healthy and would only need to go 77-56 the rest of the way to be pretty much guaranteed to make the playoffs.
Maybe it's me but I can't see him being a vocal leader. Seems more of a lead by example. The 2 vocal guys I can see are Verlander and McCullers. Both injured and both pitchers. If bats are struggling and if a pitcher is being vocal, does it matter or does it have to be positional player to maybe get the team awake?
One problem you omitted from W-L was a 4-game sweep. That’s basically losing 2 series in one, maybe 3. This season has been ridiculous as far as nothing going right. Astros might have two more wins if they merely had one extra open date on their schedule, simply to rest the bullpen a little more. A freakin day off !!!
warriors signed chris paul and see their dynasty falling. astros signed jabreu and are seeing their 'dynasty' falling. oof
Warriors record was worse last season without Paul. Astros season is just beginning and it’s been perfect storm of 10 other factors not related to Abreu. Not sure dynasty is in quotations. The team has clearly had one of the greatest runs in MLB history. It’s not over yet.
I don't like a lot of the decisions he makes, but I think the pitching injuries are enough of an excuse to keep him safe for a while.
This Astros would be crucified for firing a new manager during his first season with all these injuries.
