Maldonado was one of the worst framing catchers last year, he allowed the most passed balls, and was one of the worst throwing catchers as well. There was literally nothing Maldonado did last year that was a + defensively. Besides framing is about to become a useless statistic, because MLB baseball will be implenting the challenge system within the next 2-3 years.
The starting pitcher's era was in the hig 4's last year in the 2nd half with Maldonado as the primary catcher. He allowed plenty of ass beatings, including in game 6 and 7 in the ALCS.
