Love Bugs (the ones that fly and have their butts attached to one another).....

I should start feeding them to my fish, is that a felony?

when i was in elementary school there was one kid who had a really weak stomach and we all knew it so everyone would mess with him. S

So we would catch love bugs and and seperate them from each other in front of him just to make him throw up....god we were mean kids.....

my parents came up 3 weekends ago and that's where they stopped to wipe all the bugs off (with lots of other people doing the same).


fortunately i have not driven outside of austin since coming up to school so i have not encountered a swarm yet.

 

Almost exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday. I was driving from Austin to Houston and went throught a 20-mile cloud of the little suckers from Bastrop to 10. My windshield was so severely splattered I could hardly see through it.

Then as soon as I hit Katy, right where all the construction is, it rained for about 30 seconds. The rain combined with the dust and the bug guts to form a completely opaque paste on my windshield that my wipers were helpless against. I was in the fast lane going 70 and boxed in by 18-wheelers. I somehow managed to get back over and exit, and I ended up in the Academy parking lot right where 99 is with a bottle of water and a towel cleaning off my windshield and trying to stop my hands from shaking.

So I, too, was almost killed by lovebugs.

And they STINK. My car has been through the carwash twice since then and I have been after them with the high-pressure hose, and they are mostly gone at this point...

Eeesh.

 

The worst patch of it is around the pine trees, just after Bastrop. You feel so helpless just watching the little f*ckers nail your windshield one after another. And yes, it's very dangerous. Make sure you clean them off the front of your car soon, otherwise they tend to stick and rub against the paint.

 

Why do I need to see Greg Ostertag standing in my front yard?
