This was a major tactical mistake by Ime not doubling arguably the best scorer in the league. Brooks is a good defender but C'mon, he got roasted by old man LeBron and Ime expects him to contain Luka Doncic?

So stupid… “we didn’t want to double him because he’s good at passing out of double teams.” ok? So if PJ Washington and Dante Exum beat you from 3 then fine, you live with that. You don’t just let an MVP candidate who is clearly on fire lazily walk into dribble up 3s against Jock Landale for 3 quarters because “he’s good at recognizing double teams” wtf??

And Luka will end up with 100 assists? That's what made Harden so deadly, double team him and everyone just eats. If Jalen gets doubled like that others need to be able to step up. Jabari did, but that was it. That's why we need multiple players that can create their own shot on the floor. If Luka gets doubled or tripled, Kyrie is there to do damage.

To be fair, Udoka wanted to take away something (easy shots for role players) by single covering Luka. But, somehow our team even screwed that up by somehow allowing the role players to light it up along with Luka.

If people recall there were nights where Harden would go off for big numbers but we would still lose. The strategy was successfully employed against us. But, I think Udoka could have been smarter with how he deployed it. Also, Luka is a huge guard, so this mismatches are more of a problem than with the smaller Harden.

 

Not Udoka's finest coaching performance tonight. He made a decision not to double Doncic and stubbornly stuck with it even though we were getting absolutely abused by him all game. Not that it was going to matter. This one just wasn't meant to be, Dallas was red hot, best to forget and move on.

 

He is the team's best defender.

Luka is absolutely the last dude you want to double team in the entire league. Ime defended Jokic on a single coverage with Alpi and beat the Nuggets 3 times this season, and I haven't seen anyone b*tching about it. Don't be a result oriented c*nt. Ime lives by the sword and dies by the sword, it's simple as that. Forcing opponents into isolation has been the defensive strategy all season and made the Rockets one of the better defensive teams in the league.

 

Whatever, Luka just torched every single defender we threw at him. Let's just move on. I feel like even if you doubled him we just get open layups all day long from other players we would be blown the f out

Yeah but they should've doubled Luka so he doesn't get blazing hot. Luka wouldnt be paid 60M if he can be stopped so easily.
