The Astros I think need to call up Brice Matthews, the Lineup has no energy at the Top of the order. Jeremy Pena needs to bat 2nd if he becomes starting productive in his batting average. His speed changes the Lineup Energy. Yordan Alvarez batting 3rd, Yainer Diaz 4th, Kyle Tucker 5th, Alex Bregman 5th If Yainer Diaz breaks out move him up to 4th
Doesn’t get easier at home. “After Sunday’s finale against the Yankees, the Blue Jays (Monday through Wednesday), Rangers (April 12-14) and Braves (April 15-17) are the next three teams to come to Minute Maid Park. ”
Can't center his body or barrel a fastball. Was thinking he just lazily stuck his glove out to field that ball. Lateral movement could be an issue. He's old and shouldn't be playing the field as much as he does.
I agree he shouldn’t play the field much But he damn sure shouldn’t DH, dude can’t hit And he has no viable backup. Need to see if Chas can play 1B
159 games left. Yankees on paper should win the AL. The problem as mentioned above is we are playing contenders out of the gate and we are not that good. Get the lube ready.
Better to DH him instead of Diaz and have Diaz at first when he doesn't catch. If anything, it will save Abreu's old legs a little bit. Diaz doesn't hit well when not playing a defensive position. His OPS drops 50%. Wouldn't mind Chas or Dubon getting a shot at first either. Astros are in major water tread until rotation guys return. After Abreu's horrific pitching yesterday, no telling how ugly this will get.
They don't have the starting pitching. Their only chance to win the AL would be for Cole to come back fully healthy and dominant (unlikely but possible) and they go get another starter Our bats are going go come around, we have made them look better than they are I'll believe they beat us in a playoff series when it happens, they are our bit*h in the playoffs
I know 1B defense is not valued highly but... living through the Chris Carter era made me appreciate Berkman, Bagwell, and Yuli so much more.
The home field disadvantage with this team is crazy! It almost feels mental at this point. Like they should ceremoniously burn something in sacrifice to appease the baseball gods into lifting the curse.
To me what’s most frustrating is the fact that literally our worst nightmares we talked about all spring has come true in the first three games. I could see maybe one game the bullpen blowing it, but all three games? Yeah that’s not encouraging. Obviously it’s still early, but at this point, a couple of questions have to be raised… How much of a leash are we gonna give Jose Abreu?? Are we truly snake bit at home? Does Espada have the guts? Is our bullpen REALLY set? Will an upgrade be needed? Are we gonna really rely on McCullers and Garcia when they come back?? With that said I’m not worried about Alvarez, Tucker and Altuve… they’ll turn it around. But yeah potentially getting swept at home by the friggin New York Yankees is a nightmare start to the season.
