My friend's mom passed away after complications from a stroke last night. I have absolutely no idea what happened or the details of the ordeal, but I know he needs prayer right now. He's a Christian, but his parents followed a sort of religious cult. I just hope he gets through it fine. Thanks for caring. Any suggestions on how to deal with it that I could give him?

Oh man, terribly sorry for your friend. :(

Not much you can really console a loss of that magnitude with other than assuring him that she's in a much better place now.

That's the sad thing...being a Christian, he has to believe that she's in hell (due to the religious differences). I don't tihnk that will console him much.

Rough situation. Even as a Christian, I'd like to believe that God knows we are not perfect or omniscient. I'd like to think that, if someone is trying to follow Him to the best of his or her abilities, even if they make some wrong choices, God does show some mercy and we do not know for sure that the person is condemned. I don't know the individual situation, but I doubt there are too many cases where you can say for sure that the person went the "wrong way" when they died. We don't know yet... prayers for peace for your friend regardless...
