Yeah, I know we hoped Amen would be the PG of the future but after seeing what he is capable of, I would argue he's more valuable in that weird role he is at now where teams have to choose if they want to put a big body on him to keep him off the boards(in which case you let him iso against slower players) OR you put a wing on him and pray they can keep him off the offensive glass or don't get caught ball watching. He creates matchup problems for other teams and if you put him out there where FVV normally is operating - we have created problems for ourself because of his lack of shooting. Right now he is FAR more effective being 10ft from the hoop and most measure seem to suggest he is fairly elite in that capacity so why handcuff yourself to conventional thinking that because he is listed as a "PG", then he has to play over here? Amen is NOT a conventional guy - he's a different type of unicorn from the conventional Kristpaps mold...but he is still a unicorn in NBA circles.
It almost doesn't matter because of how volatile scores are how NBA leads can end so quickly and by the time post this it can literally change but both Lakers and Warriors are down at the moment.
Absolutely, I think continuing winning and building their confidence is the most important thing, and it's great to watch.
1.5 games behind the Warriors and we play them on 4/4. We are so close to controlling our own destiny.
Realistically we still have tough sledding ahead of us if we want to make the play-in. Have to be careful not to get complacent and over-confident against the Blazers and take care of business, because after that it's a run of mostly tough games starting on the road @ OKC on Wednesday. If we can win half our remaining games and finish the season at .500, I will be very happy with our overall progress. If we can somehow make the play-in I'll be ecstatic.
they were 5-5 in their last 10 at the time of this post, before losing two in a row including tonight. GSW has to play both Lakers and Rockets before the season is over. And then 2 of these 3 remaining teams will likely be in the 9-10 slot for the play in. I’m torn on which team I would rather knock out, or which one I would rather play on the road in an elimination play-in game. Warriors knocked us out so many times, and Lakers beat us in our last playoff appearance.
And just like that they are 1 game behind the Warriors. They keep winning and by the time they face the Warriors, should they win, I'm sure they'll be in the 10th seed with only a handful of games to close out the season. Wow, Rockets on the edge of a Playoff birth for the 1st time in 4 years. Been a hell of a trip.
