A&M isn’t that good. They take so many terrible shots. UH will expose them once again like they did at TC
This part will never get old but you can tell by the collective demeanors that they’re far from satisfied and it’s just the beginning. Culture
Now that we have our prep game against Longwood out of the way I too am concerned about the round 2 game tomorrow against A&M. Last night against a decent Nebraska team they looked like they could beat anyone. All three starting guards had at least 20 points. Additionally they are a good offensive rebounding team. Both last night and their matchup with us earlier in the year they were well into double digits offensive rebounds. When we played them this past December they only had production from one of their three guards, Taylor, that went off on us. We still only won by 4 points. Obaseki was 0 for 5 and not a factor and Radford was injured and did not play. All three this time appear to be in top form and we will have our work cut out coming up with a plan to shut them down. Having Walker back is huge for us as we are going to have to expend a lot more energy than we did last night if we want to come away with a win. We must control the pace. If we get into a run and gun pace that they like to play we will not win. We must stay out of foul trouble. If either or both of Roberts or Francis get in foul trouble that is going to severely limit our options in shutting them down. All three of their guards play aggressive. Our guards need to stay in front of their guards to prevent their drives into the lane and picking up cheap fouls on our bigs. Nebraska hit 22-24 of their FT's against them and still it was not a close game. We play Sunday night at 7:40 pm on TNT. We are favored by 9.5 points. At this point I am not as confident as the Vegas oddsmakers. But we are a #1 seed for a reason. We have a great coach and a great point guard. Can't tell at this point how healthy Roberts is. He only played 19 minutes last night. Hoping he went out early due to the big lead but he did appear to limp a bit on his way off the court. We can and probably will win this game but I think it will be closer than 9.5 points.
Roberts looked fine while in the game. I'm glad they never put him back in. May have been precaution but they brought in Lath very early at around 10-2 score and he played several minutes in the first half. To me coach knows he is going to need 6 to 8 minutes out if Lath at some point. Lath looked decent in his rotations from what I saw. He was blocking out a man every play. He had a few blocks, and a few tips. I saw great energy out if him. Rebfound and play defense. Hopefully Roberts is fine because he gives them offense a different dimension when he is on the floor. He is so smart, he seems to always make the right pass or get up a decent shot. And of course this defense is spot on. Just find a way to win like they have nearly every game the past 6 seasons. Grit out another victory for coach. Go Coogs!
WTF is up with this schedule? Why the hell are we always tipping so late? I swear to god the TV networks think Houston is located somewhere between Phoenix and LA.
Oh. Yeah there were times where folks hated playing early which wasn’t long ago. I’m good with dinner and watching the Coogs in primetime
It may be fine for you, but 50% of the country lives in EST, so we're missing out on a crapton of eyeballs when they treat us like a west coast team (which they do regularly to the Rockets as well).
It's objectively stupid and makes no sense given the lineup of teams and locations of games. No need to defend it.
The conundrum you mentioned explains why Houston gets West Coast treatment. Half of the country is EST. So, 50% of schools are EST. So, non-EST cities (50%) get non-EST treatment. It's simple numbers. The biggest problem is the Astros playing in a division with 3 other PST cities. Too many games start at 9pm CST, but seems the league has tried to rectify the situation recently with 8-8:30pm first pitches.
So after looking at the sites and teams it makes more sense. 1210 (CBS): Marquette-Colorado | MST vs EST in EST 240 (CBS): Purdue-Utah St. | MST vs EST in EST 515 (CBS): Duke-James Madison | EST vs EST in EST 610 (TNT): Baylor-Clemson | CST vs EST in CST 710 (TBS): Alabama-Grand Canyon | CST vs MST in PST 745 (tru): UConn-Northwestern | EST vs CST in EST 840 (TNT): Houston-Texas A&M | CST vs CST in CST 940 (TBS): San Diego St.-Yale | EST vs PST in PST There just simply is a lack of westerly inventory. Strange as it seems, UH vs A&M is the most "western" game on the docket that isn't being physically played in Spokane. If Houston was playing Clemson and not Baylor we'd probably have that 610 slot instead.
