Yeah but people were saying things like "so much for people wanting to play with CJ" or calling last year a fluke. that's just crazy. people were being all emotional even waiting a full day before seeing how FA played out and voicing complaints. I kept saying I trust the Meco/Caserio tandem until proven otherwise and they keep showing why they should be trusted. Hopefully next FA period folks practice more patience and don't run off a cliff. I'm a huge Texans fan and had a bunch of fun not freaking out because I know Meco/Caserio are capable of performing miracles

While the OP is calling out posters here, the two greatest knee jerk threads in Astros forum history belong to the OP. After getting blasted for years for being knee jerk, he's gone to the other extreme. So, there's hope for all you other knee jerk posters...

Point fingers all you want just the other day some guys were saying to trade Stroud because Caserio was sitting on his hands!

Cal's Management style - Empowered Delegation of Duties, but not of Authority.

Caserio's Management style - Empowered Consensus, but without fighting the Authority structure..

This is truly a Team with the right people in place to work within these Management styles.

O'Brien's problem was authority driven. He wanted to be KING.

When a beautiful building is being built, very few see the beauty in the foundation work before the first concrete is poured. Most only begin to take notice as it nears completion. But that finished product will not last without the almost unnoticed work done beforehand.

Never understood the **** Nick took.

He took the worst situation in football and turned it in to arguably the best young future in the league.

Some national guys have brought it up, but any coincidence that the Patriots personnel choices went in to the toilet as soon as Nick left?

He deserves our support until proven otherwise.

Not every move is going to be perfect of course, but he has surpassed Rick Smith as the best GM in history which I think is saying something. Rick for all the hate he took built imo two rosters good enough to win a SB.

Rick could never get a QB until Watson (and he was out the door). I would surmise that if Rick Smith was still GM, the Watson situation would have been dealt with and may have never happened. Then again, we will never know.

Deshaun is a scumbag. He would have figured a way around it no matter who the gm was.

Rick got Schaub who was good enough pre Linsfranc injury. I have no issue with how he handled the roster.

Built a good defense and offensively the best unit we probably ever had.

    This is revisionist.

The Pats had terrible personnel choices all over the place WITH Nick. Their draft record is awful. Tom Brady covered all sins.

With the Texans, prior to hitting on CJ Stroud and Will Anderson, the draft record here looked pretty bad as well. The guy everyone slurped to defend Nick was Pierce, and now he's not even able to play for this team. Stingley finally gave you something to be excited about, but they draft a lot of injury prone busts so far.

If you consider the consensus management style of Nick, he can be both brilliant and frustrating depending on the evaluation skills of his teams. If the team chooses well, his picks do well. If his team is flaky, his picks will be flaky. But he's brilliant landing those players his team targets, both by type and by name.

    That is a wild statement.

Christian Harris, Tank Dell, Will Anderson Jr, CJ Stroud, Nico Collins, Derek Stingley.

Thats in 3 drafts(one of which with no first or second rounders)... You could make the statement that every single one will be a probowl to all pro level player.

That is some damn good drafting, and reading back what you said. You just look like a plain hater.

prior to this season, none of those players were a positive asset. (Cj, tank and Will weren’t here)

Rick was terrible rounds 3-5. But very impressive in rounds 1 and UDFA.

Players take time to develop and you are grading Nick on a prior year perception over reality….. wtf are we even talking about.

Why are you still skeptical and what would it take for you to become not skeptical?

It's possible that it could've been swept under the rug, like the sexual harassment that was going on down on Kirby during the RS years. But you're right Watson is a scumbag.

I think he was so sloppy with it that it would have been difficult. Flying in girls off Instagram to the Houstonian and then not wanting to pay them. He's just garbage. Glad he's not our problem anymore
