I'm not saying we needed Snell, specifically, but you went into the season (again) needing more depth at SP. Just stupid.
I understand why they didn't do it, the terrible starting pitching for the Astros will likely make for a somewhat painful season.... but maybe it all falls into place by the playoffs
Scott Boras - Snell going to SF where his money will be taxed so the 62 mil isn’t that but they wanted 66 mil from Astros
Hader wanted to come here. Snell is going somewhere that he is going to receive less money after taxes.
Stop being a f*cken miser about everything and let's try to win this sh*t. It's dangling right in front of us. "No homo"
He wanted to go to San Francisco….they and the Mariners were he wanted to go if money was equal. This wasn’t a matter of not being creative - Boras was well aware of it and discussed all options with teams.
The Houston sports teams rarely get someone that's reportedly interested in signing or Houston is interested in. The impactful signings and/or trades usually happen out of nowhere.
Dana Brown had no say in this whatsoever. This was 100% Crane's call. Just like Verlander, Altuve, Hader and every other major contract. GM's do the paperwork, small signings and drafting, he makes all the big calls, point your anger there. Never was a fan of Snell, but it's weird the Yankees didn't beat that.
