I am not worry about his passing and shooting abilities. Or even his dribbling ability. The problem for any underside player is the defense. It would be very hard for a undersized player to defend an opponent who are 4 to 6 inches taller than you, like all the other centers facing Yao. It's very hard. Anyway, good luck to him. It's just great that another Asian player in NBA, especially at the guard position.
Actually, that problem is overrated now with zones: Generally, if you're smaller, you're quicker. So if you are eve na bit smart, no one should be able to get around you at 5'9. So now two problems remain: posting up and shooting over. Well, zone rules make it very difficult for Guards to post up, especially PG's. That's why Payton has been in decline recently, because his post game was a major part of his game. Aside from that, how many NBA PG's post up today? Not more than 3. So now we have the shooting over, which definitely is a problem. I think that if this guy is a very capable passer, a good shooter, and lightning quick, he'll make up for it. He can't defend people who shoot over him, but no PG is perfect. If he could defend everyone, with his alleged skillset, he would be the best PG in the NBA. I think he can make it given the chance in the right system.
he is quick and a good passer but i agree that he cant defend just like most undersize guards in the NBA. but he will be agood back up for the suns but i doubt that he would get any pt in that team when they got barbosa and nash there.
