Jorge, please don't mistake my strong political opinions for personal attacks. You've been warned.

Actually Jorge, I apologize for calling you a shill. I actually do think you have your own beliefs. But you still totally missed the point. This guy actually has an idea that you probably would agree with and just because he is a rising star in the Democratic party you disagreed with him.

    Getting this reaction...

..is proof either of poor reading comprehension or intentional distortion in order to "call out" an "evil, traitorous enemy."

Did you post equal shock in the Bill Cosby threads for his race-baiting nature of calling out african-american youth? I don't remember.

Thou swell, thou witty, thou sweet, thou grand.

If Karl Rove read this thread, he'd probably shake his head and mutter, "G.d., that TJ makes me look like Ted Kennedy."

It's somewhat disappointng to me that you guys let TJ goad you into his little game.

Quite obviously, trolling like that (and like exhibited by some others on a regular basis) is the kind of thing that destroys this forum, but it's apparent by now that nobody's going to really do too much to stop him (for which I don't blame anybody, it happens so much around here, it would be a full tiime job policing that kind of thing.) It's incumbent on people to not humor him. (which I used to do all the time but try not to any longer).

Just don't respond to him, or just make your point with one response and leave it at that. It's not worth it. If people really are worried about this forum being destroyed/closed/etc, this is a good way to clean it up.

Some get worked up but I think most do it for the fun of it. Besides, he has been ignored before and he keeps coming back.

Hear me holler, I choose a sweet lollapaloosa in thee.

Sam, I know you like Obama, but clearly I'm debating the issues in this thread. You can't deny that. As much as you'd like to silence any criticism of your former prof, you can't. He is not immune from ridicule. You can call me a troll all you'd like. I really don't care. In fact, I laugh when you do so. Ha! The troll comment only emerges when you are wounded. I keep score with it. Guess what -- I'm winning.

You and Batman have been on a "ban Jorge and Bamaslammer" campaign. Frankly, it's getting old. Try a new game, Sam.

    TJ,

Let's talk about issues let's talk about what Obama said. I don't think you understand what he's talking about. I honestly believe that you are mistaken and without a reference point here.

I don't claim to be any sort of an expert myself. But I have worked in inner city schools, and I've seen exactly what Obama was referring to, and it is a problem for many at risk schools. What Obama is talking about is not race baiting at all. What Obama was referring too was when some black students tell other black students who like to read and have books, that they are acting white.

What Obama was saying is that reading book shouldn't be seen as a cultural divide that means anybody is disrespecting their own culture. It should never be a point of shame for black students to read and improve themselves with academics.

Now I'm guessing you didn't have reference point on this since your work doesn't give you the opportunity to interact with youths who deal with this issue.

You have totally misunderstood what he was talking about, so anything swipes at this as a race vs. race type issue doesn't hold any water.

FranchiseBlade, I have stated many times on this board that I have EXTENSIVE experience tutoring inner-city youth, most of whom are black. I understand the issue fully, and still take offense at his choice of words and at his decision to frame the argument in terms of race.

Why is no one talking about all of the other issues that Tony Dungy, err I mean Obama, is wrong on? For reference, they are listed in my detailed post on the previous page.

Well I wasn't sure what experience you had since it was clear you didn't understand what Obama was talking about. He was addressing an issue that in no way was saying one race was good another race bad or anything even close to that.
