Well, in many things, I tend to agree that a for-profit company can do things more efficiently and more customer-focused than a government agency. And there might be some division of labor where the TSA remains for law enforcement, but airlines take on some more of the aspects of security. However, there isn't much of the low-impact, high-frequency security issues at airports that companies might excel at managing. Pretty much no one ever gets victimized at airports, until someone does and then it's a catastrophe. From what I've seen, it's the low-frequency, high-impact events that companies are terrible at managing. They'll play the numbers and save some money by betting it'll never happen, and maybe buy some insurance to hedge against the worst of it. What they won't do is spend millions and millions trying to prevent something that is unlikely to even happen like the government will. (A regulated utility model -- where they get the government to greenlight lavish spending and they get profits commensurate to the size of their spending -- might do it, though.)
"Leader" is a bit of an exaggeration. He was the Hays County precinct chair. "Petty functionary" might have been a more appropriate term.
This is an important storyline, and I think it puts a bow on top of Lindsey Graham's original prediction that Trump would mean the end of the Republican Party. It will remain a dangerous cult of personality, but what we know about most Trump loyalists is that they are not very competent in general. You'd have to think that installing a bunch of these puppets will really hurt many downstream elections for the former GOP. But we'll see. Maybe the new modus is just obfuscate and refuse to concede elections while stoking violence to achieve ends. Sad times, no matter your allegiances.
This one hurt, he is a good man, I don't agree with him most of the time but he was willing to talk and not take pot shots at the other side, he was a true moderate...................I am afraid the real moderates are all going to leave and the gop will be officially the maga/trump party. I have always thought that America would not go to an extreme side but if trump wins, we will test that theory. I have less confidence the independent voter will go with Biden even though I think he`s done a heck of a job for what he`s had to work with. It seems most dont care about the big picture, they are mad that PB at HEB is higher and the gop has done a great job at stoking fear around every corner, even when its a bold-faced lie, people eat it up. We may be in for 4 years of some ugly politics trying to take us back to 1945, I dont see any unifying of the country when the extremes run the country..........I think America would have buyers remorse very quickly but I am 99.999% sure if maga gets the WH they will do everything they can to never leave.
Ken Buck is not a moderate. He’s a conservative and probably more small government than people like Elise Stefanik. Like Liz Cheney and even Lankford the party at this point just cares about loyalty to Trump.
This. He is a Freedom Caucus member, tried and true. He's one of the few true conservatives. I do applaud him having the bare minimum of courage to stand up to the MAGA morons and their idiot cult leader. But he's certainly no moderate.
