Do those havens necessarily define "anywhere?" I thought that Putin's statement was more far-reaching than that.
His statement might be, but who cares? There aren't chechen rebel bases in Indonesia or Egypt or Turkey or Sweden or Antarctica. There might be a few in remote areas of Azerbaijan and there are probably some in Pankisi Gorge in Georgia. But that's been a regional dispute that has been ongoing for some time (edit: and upon further investigation, Russians have bombed suspected rebel positions in Georgia without its consent - which the US denounced back in 2002). Otherwise, it's largely irrelevant - who cares where they are willing to go when we already know where they are - which is in Russia and across the border.
I've used the word "brazen" in conversation before. I don't find it odd at all. I think giddy should have left out the "-" and make it "brazen act", instead of "brazen-act", but I think giving someone a hard time because they use more of the words in the dictionary than you do is ludicrous. Absurd. Over the top. Golly, I would almost call it... brazen. I just want to add that I am a terrible speller, have a hard time deciding where to put commas, and a Liberal Democrat. edit:
I never said they would make a better desicion for us, all im trying to say is that we should atleast consider what these other countries and their people think of us and our policies. thats all. Never did I say that I want other countries to be in charge of our economy, or something like that. Just listen to them and not reject their opinions about us without taking a moment to think why they have those opinions.
Nevermind. I was talking out of context. I went on a tangent when I shouldn't have. It was more about me being "curious" rather than "nitpicking." It wasn't about the word "brazen," per se (not about grammar or spelling). Rather, it just seemed odd. Kinda like when you are debating someone about the problems of preemptive war, and they reply with "But, it's the 'axis-of-evil!'" Or, I list reasons for war being wrong, and they reply with "We must be steadfast on the war on terror!" Kinda makes you want to reply with "Did you read that out of a Bush Press Release or something?" Just seemed canned. Especially if I'm dealing w/people that ONLY watch FOXNEWS (nobody here, I'm sure). That's even worse. They are almost brainwashed.
Actually most Americans are ignorant or believe in mistruths about their own candidates and the issues. Polls show a large percentage of Americans think Iraq had something to do with 9/11 whereas this is true in no other country. It's amazing what you can do with a compliant press - make a guy who avoided war seem like a solid leader of the military and the so called war on terror like Bush, Cheney, and Ashcroft.
