This is exactly how I feel. I think coach is such a leader of men, a father figure, and he gets players that come from that family environment or long for it. Its a perfect fit with this "family staff". He coaches his way... Throws Dunn out of his first practice. Demands they buy into his level of hustle every play, every player. Since coach got here and I saw how he wanted to grow this program, I was telling everyone I know UH is coming back. Coach did this, it was his vision. So proud of this team. No matter how they finish. That said, give me TCU please. Time for the revenge game with them. Go Coogs.
We all still feel that pain. I was only 13 but I was crushed and my old man also. Let’s be real though if Franklin or Anders hit a damn FT we win the effing game… uggh
Our first game in Big 12 tournament will be 2pm Thursday against winner of OU vs TCU game on ESPN/ ESPN2. Assuming we go all the way to championship game that will be 3 games in 3 days. Friday's game would be at 6pm on ESPN/ESPN2 and Sat's conference championship game iwill be at 5pm on ESPN. Gauntlet part 2 coming up.
Everybody said for years UH was a basketball powerhouse waiting to happen with the right investment, it's still impressive AF what Sampson has done there.
what a polite way to say 'it's all about the money'. I love Sampson more and more every time I hear him speak.
real talk: I did not think the first year in XII would look this good, I was ready for a "let down" of some sort
When we lost those back to back road games to TCU and ISU I thought damn we are in for a tough ride. Maybe Kenpom and others that still had us ranked at or near the top in about every category did not know what they were talking about. It is quite remarkable the way this team has responded ending the regular season with nine straight conference wins to finish 15-3 in the Big12 and 28-3 overall in the regular season. We are in about as good of a place as we could hope to be. Have confidence in our coach and our guys to keep it going. It has been a great year.
I had the opportunity to attend practice today. Sampson is such a good coach, but very tough (no shattering news there). They were preparing for both TCU and OU. CKS is very good pointing out fine details, like trapping the dribbler after a pick too far out (close to midcourt line), making too hard for the trapper to recover. They were burned in the OU game with a long pass to the opposite corner for an open 3 or being vulnerable to the drive. He was pointing out to Lath where to set a screen and the proper angle to set it. He was very hard on Dunn for not executing his defensive assignment properly. They worked on playing a zone and trying to be tightly connected like a fist. He said they are constantly putting in some new stuff or making tweaks. He also said they are in the top ten in scoring on out of bounds plays out of 350+ teams in the NCAA. We’re very fortunate to have him as our coach. Overall, a fascinating experience.
