When's the last time Texans signed a big name FA that's not clearly past his prime?

    That was an important off-season.

    Honestly

It's Wilkins & Barkley or bust

Give me star power, not journeymen

Also, Singletary possibly leaving doesn't surprise me

I would feel disrespected too if my own teammates were recruiting a replacement

ESPN actually called the Texans contenders next season, we need to capitalize now!

Technically players still under their 2023 contract are the ones who cannot be signed by another team until 3/13. There are a few who were released from those contracts who are signing like Foley. There are also some Franchised/Transition tagged players who are permitted to negotiate with other teams because they are on their own timeline. The NFL has more exceptions to the Rule of Thumb than any league I've ever seen.

Right, Joseph was and it took a couple season for it to really work out. I guess he would be the one.
Mathieu was a 1 year prove it deal, and Osweiler...

Just shows Texans don't often sign big free agents.

I would not be opposed to Armstead due to adding some depth earlier this week.

Possibility the market for Rankins isn't robust and he can come back at a discount.

I wouldn't mind flipping a late pick for Mack and restructuring his deal to add 1-2 years to lower his cap hit.

I would still want Cashman back...

I feel like middle linebacker can be found in 2nd round...

Not sure what they do at corner...

Who was the last big external free agent the chiefs signed?

Don't give up just yet. Foley is an upgrade to the depth and a rotational player. He has played less than half the defensive snaps the last two years with the Jags.

Right now, Maliek Collins is a starter and there is room for another starter at DT, whether is comes in house, free agency or the draft. The depth is just better.

It is possible, with sufficient quality of depth, we might not have two starters with a majority of snaps at the position. I mention this because that's how I define a starter. Other might define it as a plurality of starts at each DT position.

He'd have to take paycut wherever he goes. Should be in the $14-18M range since he's been missing time.

    I predict:
    DT Wilkins
    LB Al-Shahir
    Rb Pollard
    RB Singletary

veteran CB and DE and S and a G from the scrap heap towards end of FA

I'd take Armstead and Reader. May can get both for the price of Wilkins.
