Carmel is a suburb of my hometown and I am NOT surprised in the slightest by any of that.

Kids have some things rougher than we did, but they also have a lot of things easier.....life changes fast.

I was out of the house at 19 - never to go back that is very hard today, you can't get by on some of the same jobs we were able to get by on.

I put myself through college bartending, I don't think at 120k for college now you can do that.....or do it as easily.

Thing is. There won't be schools in the future. Although remote learning stuttered on the last go, they will give it another chance to improve, and at that point, when it does improve, because it will, the cost of brick mortar, no matter how cool it is, will burn.

    I do like their school.

Compared to my HS they shine. Especially in the design, and some of the co-op application of technology. But a lot of it was the same as in the 90's. I'm still surprised to see libraries though. I don't remember having a swimming center and my high school was fairly large.

Test scores have plummeted for kids who were in school during COVID and forced to learn online. What we learned is that kids don’t learn well remotely for the most part. Having said that, we don’t have to build 80s era malls to accommodate them.

Back in my day, we had to walk up hill to school, both ways :D Carmel is very, very nice and that school looks very cool. My HS, Klein Forest was really nice, circa 1985 but today it's a hell hole.

Extremely doubtful remote learning replaces schools. If it does, we are decades away from that happening.

Back in my day we had to walk uphill through three miles of snow to school. Both ways!
