If Adams can be somewhat of what he used to be his screens are going to help Amen and the offense A TON.
Amen with an insanely good defensive game. End of the 3rd he single handedly shut them down in a way that wings are almost never able to do. Running the offense so well these days too.
If he averaged 13 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists as a starter, then he’s its certainly possible he can average 20,10,7 a couple of years from now.
35% on wide-open threes. That's all he needs IMO. Just enough that his defender can't sink all the way back and clog the paint. If he gets to that mark he is an All-NBA player.
Amen Thompson has Scottie Pippen physical attributes. Their game is very similar- Pippen was not known as a shooter until later on in his career.
I think he needs to go into this off-season and completely change his form. Then take a couple years to adjust to it. It's one of the ugliest shots I've ever seen...I don't see much hope that he can improve if he continues with his current form. Other than that, the rest of his game can reach elite status. His defense is already.
Said it in the post-game thread, I really like Amen dominating on defense and has an all-around game, driving, passing, rebounding, steals, and blocks. He'll just get better with time. It's been a while since I've seen a Rockets rookie just lock up and destroy offensive players on some possessions.
Generational athlete and a generational defender. That Amen/Green/Cam lineup was so fun to watch, so much athleticism and speed. I can’t wait to get Tari back.
Its been a while since I posted on GARM, but man that 2nd half from the Rockets was hella fun to watch. The really played well without the ball sticking. We shall see. The Rockets have something special with Amen imho. Green still is very streaky as a player but his explosiveness is elite.
This kid is a 21-year-old rookie doing this. This is outlier stuff to be honest, Brooks is a legit second-team all-defensive talent with fire and this kid is leading the team albeit in fewer minutes and games of course with a smaller sample size. His ceiling is a shut-down artist and defensive anchor IMO, not even mentioning his excellent all-around game, we'll let him progress naturally over the years. https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2024.html
The sky is the limit with Amen. There are a lot of simple things he can improve on in his 3pt form, such as shooting with his legs and concentrating on a one-handed motion. His in-traffic moves and body strength are so balanced right-to-left that I think he is uncomfortable with the body tilt that most good 3pt shooters use.
meh it was againist one of the worst teams in the league how far have we as a franchise fallen, celebrating a win like that
