Statistics say he has gotten worse, not better. Jalen green 3pt% 21’ - 34% 22’ - 33% 23’ - 31% Jalen green FG% 21’ - 42% 22’ - 41% 23’ - 40% Jalen green TS% 21’ - 54% 22’ - 53% 23’ - 52%
many so called influencer Rockets accounts blocked me on X after saying the exact same thing. he also caused turnovers running after rebounds which were already at the hands of Sengun.
[QUOTE="topfive, post: 15101752, member: 4593" I've been impressed with Jalen's recent willingness to NOT shoot if he spots an open teammate, something that was rare the first couple of years. Anyone who says he's not progressing as a player (despite his numerous faults) is just not watching the games or watching with an agenda.[/QUOTE] you do realize that he shot 3 out of maybe 57 the last 3 games on threes right? is that willingness not to shoot? lol. joke post of the week.
To be fair, his advanced stats have gotten (slightly) better every year. But his regression in efficiency is definitely concerning and would make me hesitant about extending him if I were in charge.
I agree with this. Jalen is getting better as a basketball player. The evidence is plain to see. He’s making better reads, he’s more active without the ball, and he’s playing better defense. The overall effort has been better over the last month. However, the lack of shooting progression is my big concern, along with his mentality. I see a guy who is super sensitive; doesnt really have a hard nosed winning mentality. And I see a guy who can’t shoot well; especially from long range. I just don’t want a shooting guard who can’t shoot. And I don’t trust he has the mentality to maximize all of his other talents. I could be wrong, but despite the better play recently, i’d still try to move him for some value this offseason. If we are keeping him for the 24’ season I really think his best fit is in a Lou Williams type role: instant scoring off the bench.
How about we dump Jalen for another Cam Whitmore, yes a clone. That way we have Cam as a starter and when he gets tired Cam2 comes in off the bench to replace him.
Awesome, Two guys averaging 0.5 assists per game. In group photos, they can stand next to each other in T-shirts, each with one word on it: YINKA DARE
I bet Udoka would say that he has improved. But the Brody on CF citing basketball reference knows more, eh?
Knows more is not the right way to put it. Udoka can say whatever he wants, it won't change the fact that Green's 3-point percentage has decreased. There is a lot of evidence that Green has improved in other areas, but the decrease in 3 point percentage is masking it. If he had improved his 3 point percentage by as much as it has dropped, there would not be the Jalen Green hate.
Is there really room on this roster for Jalen Green next season? We can't run him out there as the starter. That means the choices are Cam or an upgrade via FA or trade. IF Cam is the starter, there might be a place for Jalen on the roster. If it's an outside player, Cam should have an absolute LOCK on that 6th man role. Where does that leave Jalen in that scenario? He's the odd man out. I think it's almost inevitable that they bring in someone to replace Jalen the real question is who.
I don't see Jalen gone from roster unless it is with a lot of draft capital for a star/near star (i.e., they dont need his production at another position). Amen is really the only internal choice to replace Jalen, IMO. Spacing would be bad, but got to have someone to help FVV get the ball to Sengun, SF and PF. I think Sengun, FVV, Amen, and Tari are likely to be the best 4 Rockets next season. If done on merit, those 4 should be starting without a FA acquisition. I think Smith, Brooks, and Cam are the next best options. Cam gives the best spacing. Brooks the best defense (shooting at a high clip, but shot is slow making him not an ideal player for spacing). Smith gives some spacing and some defense. I'd lean Smith as I think a lot of his problems lately are that he has good days and bad days with the ankle. Granted, it seems like Udoka has purposely kept the minutes with Sengun, Amen, and FVV to a minimum so it has been hard to see how those three work with Cam, JSJ, and Brooks.
3 of 57 in the last 3 games??? ACTUALLY 18 of 51 for 35% in the last 5 games. In that span he's averaging 24/5/3/1 while playing aggressive on both ends of the court. He's been on the court til the end for all. Ime's obviously happy with him.
