Who is the cheapest company to go through to get a phone line installed in my apartment? I mean the internet is dirt cheap at $10 a month, but its the $30-$40 per month payment you make for the damn phone line. Is there one cheaper then $40?
I have a cell phone. Thats why I dont have a home phone. I can pay $40 a month for a cell phone I can carry with me everywhere I go instead of paying the same price for a phone I can only use at home. But i need a PHONE line for the internet.
NM Stack, I just got what you meant... Im slow... whats the cheapest way to go about getting cable modem in my apartment?
Im just a luddite and don't really know what I'm talking about but maybe you could check and see if there is an Wifi base you can access from you home. You could be an outlaw leech or maybe there is some kind of collective you could join like a fraternity or apartment complex. Maybe you could start your own acess collective and find neighbors who would join. Somebody who actually knows something please comment. (my Mom lives on a lake out in the country and those folks went together to get wireless high speed access)
My company offers a pre paid telephone line for $38 bucks per month that includes taxes. You have to pay the first months payment upfront along with an activation charge for a total of 51.00 bucks. Then every month after it will be $38. No contract because its pre paid. You probably want to do something along the lines as to what Stack has suggeted. Go with a cable modem (if available) and say to hell with the telephone line. If you want a house phone get a digital voice over internet line. VOIP. You can get one from my company for $29.95 per month unlimited long distance any where in the U.S. You will either have to get a converter to transfer your regular phone to go over the internet or you can purchase a voip enabled phone that would just plug into a router.i.e. cisco phone. O.k I'm done with the shameless plug.
if your in an apartment, well get a wireless card and see ifany of your neighbours have wireless hotspots, that arent password protected, and well enoy.
Well, since he doesn't have a landline, he'd have to add another $15/month for a phone line and the various taxes and fees, including the "if you breathe oxygen, pay $0.004" fee and the other hundred million fees like it that SBC levies on us.
$15.71 + taxes = approx $27.00 (in Plano -Dallas area) land line + $10.83 ev1.net "10 buck promo + tax" ________ $37.83... done.
Get Earthlink for $19.95 for the first two months: http://www.earthlink.net/home/broadband/ Then after two months, switch to RR and get their "special" new member deal, and then switch back and forth.
Are you sure you can do stuff like that. Don't you have to put up your credit card so they would catch on after a while.
to be honest, each time I call up roadrunner to talk about switching, they've lowered me down to 29.95 for 6 months (done this twice now). So I haven't tried actually switching yet.
