    That is complete utter crap.

What is a spoiled kid? Excatly the Amare, AI, and Marbury of the world. Coming from a tough childhood, all of a sudden, they are earning millions for their physical capabilities. Any person would be "spoiled" after that. The reasons they dont commit the idiotic things that a "spoiled" millionaire do on a regular basis is because they have groups of people giving them advice, and sometimes ordering them to behave certain ways in the public. Privately, do you really know these guys? How do you know their beliefs?

Okay so Anthony he is 19 so he is excused for his actions/words. I would say that is reasonable. But to say that him and some of the other guys accepted the invitation because they felt obligated to fight for their country is complete bogus. Again, we dont know their beliefs. And from the way they played, they behaved, and the way Anthony complained, it's only logical to say that they thought it was gonna be a walk in the park. Especially according to your definition of being 19 it's very safe to say that he probably did think it was gonna be easy and just wanted a medal.

About the article this whole thread is suppose to about, it's again just utter crap. It's simply filled with generalization and stereotyping (the samething imo). I dont think the dude even knows what it means to be American, to be multi-cultural and to have an impartial view on things. Then again, Assumptions are what journalists are paid to write. Attention-grabbing, headline worthy assumptions.

Hmm I think my post might have been kind harsh. I do apologize for it if the poster I quoted might have some hostility because of it.

using your logic all great athletes are spoiled, yet these are the only ones who have Americans rooting against them at the Olympics. Why are these athletes singled out?

I'd agree, being called a mild racist isn't as bad as being called a cross-burning white supremacist. Somehow, that's not making me feel any better though. :)

Hmm, what about the "spoiled" kids that become the heads of coporations that starts to ship jobs over seas? What about "spoiled" kids that don't fight in wars that their parents started (kids of congressmen)? What about "spoiled" kids that use their conections to get jobs over some one that's more qualified?

While I think very little of the article, I think it's B.S. that a group of basketball team is getting so much attention from the media as what's wrong with America while the real people that's hurting this country is the ones that are behind the scenes and out of sight.

And that makes them spoiled? What's wrong with getting paid for your talents? I don't hear the outrage about Tom Cruise getting paid $20-30 mil per flick for his good looks and acting capabilities. Where's the hate for Justin Timberlake making millions off HIS good looks and singing capabilities? How many people call the talk shows saying that 'Nsync or whatever is a disgrace for American culture (which by the way it is) and they wished some dutch band for example takes the # 1 ranking for a pop album? Or that some French movie beats Tom Cruise at the box-office.

Sure, a fat guy with no athletic ability that sits in an office from 9 to 5 for hardly any pay may feel that life is treating him unfairly , but keep in mind this:
    1. At least these keds have to work and compete to develop their talent, unlike trust-fund kids and other heirs who get their money just for getting born in the right family. (and now Republicans want to get rid of the inheritance tax, thus eliminating whateve minor hit these kids would normally take)

    2. The NBA has a salary cap and maximum limit on contracts. Have you heard of a producer wanting Tom Cruise for a movie and some governing body putting restrictions on how much they can pay him? In any other business talent gets the market rate, not in the NBA.

The articles were right in saying that these players are getting a lot more hate than they deserve and it is probably because they are black. What he is wrong about is that he failed to make a distinction between the real "haters" and the people who just thought this was a bad bball team. That's the problem.

And yeah, if you think that AI and Amare are spoiled but Tom Cruise, George W. Bush and Arnold Schwarteneger are not, than you ARE a racist.
