In hindsight it sounds like a joke that Stone created and it is sad that he was serious about it all.

He played foster parent to both Kevin and Jalen.

Kudos to him that he actually managed to have a meeting with Banchero.

You aren't getting very far in the playoffs adding just Markkanen and giving up the assets you have.

The Rockets don't have enough talent to make that their team going forward - especially with Green struggling.

Two years of tanking (highest picks since Yao) for Jalen and Jabari? Really? But but, he’s good at the draft.

I don't compare Stone to Morey too much
    Different circumstances and Different bosses/expectations

Stone needed to find Talent. Period.
    Basketball and Coaching talent .

    Silas feels like a Fail
Udoka is a work in progress

    Basketball wise - incomplete
This is coach dependent. Can Udoka turn this around?
    I don't know . . .
I'm not as down on Jalen as most
    but
I need to see SOMETHING out of him soon

I am sure OKC would try. But this is pretty scary. I would not unprotect future picks just to get the HOU one back in this weak draft.

I was reminded that our own pick could also end up in the top 4. There a chance to have two top 4 picks.

Sometimes it may be better to be lucky than good.

Yea....I've been one to push back on the Stone hate but that mean doesn't I don't have a realistic view.

We do have too many young players that don't seem to fit so how Stone deals with that is what will ultimately matter.

Precisely how you describe the Rockets....

Luckier than good......they are lucky to be decent but are not great.

Right. I would listen, but I would have to get a reasonable deal and there would have to be a player in the draft that I felt was a long term starter OR someone at the top of the draft I really wanted and would package the Nets and Rockets picks for.

The issue is that Stone is likely going to feel a lot of heat, and may pursue trades that payoff early but not later.

Sure Stone made some mistakes and looks like an average GM at best at this point.

    • Hired Silas when we still had Harden. Silas wasn't brought into rebuild but it just happened. He was a great tank commander.
    • Oladipo was never going to sign with the Rockets and that was a token extension that Stone knew he wouldn't sign.
    • Passing on Allen was a mistake, but passing on LaVert wasn't. However, I'm not sure if Allen is the type of player you want on a tanking team.
    • John Wall for WB was when we still had Harden and was a good move.
    • We didn't try to build around Wood, that's just fake news.
    • KPJ was a gamble and lost. The biggest thing was having to use all those second round picks to move on, but we still have 2nd round picks to use
    • Green is looking like a miss, but missing on one multiple top pick seems pretty normal in the NBA.
    • Landale was the plan B and was only guaranteed for a year. Not a big deal at all.

Seems some of y;all are just being petty to be petty. Stone isn't a good GM but come on..... I don't see any franchise altering mistakes, just some missed opportunities.

Yea it's a shame we didn't get Wemby who truly looks like a generational player.... Or Paolo...... Things would be looking incredibly different with a little lottery luck.

However, the whole point was to be in the position for the highest odds.

During a rebuild you're SUPPOSED to have young prospects lol. Giving them more than half a season to develop would be nice

And at some point you pivot away from six FRPs that are on our roster because you can’t develop them all and pay them all.

Some of them have been given more than a half season to develop.

So he's had an above average draft record. Put him up against the last 5 drafts weighed by draft position, he's in the 65th percentile.

If tanking were a crime, Stone would be in...............
