Udoka vs Silas, did Stone make a right replacement?

I never understood the compulsion to bring JVG back as a head coach. He was always mediocre. 11 seasons with a couple of pretty good teams, but he only has one conference title to show for it. And he was 7-12 in the playoffs with the Rox..

Just because the guy learned how to be likeable as a grumpy broadcaster doesn't mean he simultaneously learned to be a good coach.

 

Jalen running around like an idiot with zero confidence, Sengun looking like the Turkish Slingblade wearing lead shoes and shooting like he's playing horse, Dillion has checked out for the season, FVV mediocre without true star teammates, Jabari playing well, but struggling with 3s, Cam and Amen were both just completely out of control.

Not much for Ime to work with.

 

Udoka is fine.. this is more on Stone's construction of this roster than Udoka.

The youngsters needed to learn some discipline and defense, and how to work hard. Silas let the team walk all over him and do whatever they wanted. Udoka was a good person to bring it for that discipline. He expects more from everyone, regardless of your role. The issue is that his offense is pretty rudimentary (similar to a JVG), but I think once this roster is improved around Sengun, along with Amen and Cam getting more time to develop, we will feel better about this squad.

 

Rick Adelman would have actually been a great coach for this team if he could get over his anti-rookie habits.

The very same ones you’re hearing complaints about with Udoka. Both are defensive-minded coaches…Kelvin OBSESSIVELY so.

Personally, I love them both. I’m glad both of them coach for teams I root for. Love guys who build culture about out-working everyone else…being willing to do what others won’t. That’s harder to build in the NBA than college, of course.

The criticism is that the offense ends up being short-changed. Again, I think if we had some shooters who could hit the open shots that the offense is very clearly creating for them, then that issue would be moot.

 

Exactly - and that is on Stone.

Draft Reed Sheppard. Get someone like Grayson Allen. Should have gone for Buddy Hield. Hell, can we unretire Kyle Korver or something.

Our guys outside of Holiday, Whitmore and Bari (hopefully) and FVV to some extent (but only from three) can't shoot at all.

 

Nah you just have a patience problem. This is a young team you have to wait for that Soon to happen our core players are 21 and younger.

This. We are still very young and don't exactly have a team but more of a collection of players.

 

Literally, I've never seen a worse head coach than Sil@ss. I still dance in joy everytime I remember we have Udoka instead of him.

I think Udoka is doing fine, just as we have young players we also have a young coach. This year he is still figuring things out next year he should be much better just like the rest of our young core.

 

He said that so why is he expecting instant results? That's my point. If you got stars that you know need time why are you complaining the team sucks? Why not give the time you know they need and then complain if they don't pan out?

Saying everything sucks the GM sucks the coach sucks the players suck etc is that giving time? Lol

 

Because the team sucks. And they’ve been intentionally bad for a really long time. And we’re fans and we like seeing our team win and hate when we watch them lose. It’s ok to not be thrilled with it or to avoid blowing sunshine up our shorts pretending that it’s been good. I’m insanely optimistic generally. But people who care enough to still complain are fans. A bunch of folks checked out a while ago.
