I don't want to be mean but did she ever think of hanging up and contacting amazon directly??

if you get a suspicious call. HANG UP.
then find the number yourself from the vendors official site. call them. take control of the situation.

The FTC shares some signs that you’re being scammed:

    • Scammers pretend to be from an organization you know.
    • Scammers say there’s a problem or a prize.
    • Scammers pressure you to act immediately.
    • Scammers tell you to pay in a specific way.
They recommend to protect yourself from scam calls and messages by:

    • Blocking unwanted calls/text messages.
    • Not giving personal or financial information to a request you didn’t expect.
    • Resisting to act immediately.
    • Knowing the methods of how scammers tell you to pay.
    • Stopping and talking with those you trust.

Man the more I read about that story, I think she is TOTALLY making it up.

I refuse to believe a financial columnist put money in a shoebox to an undercover CIA agent because an amazon account rep called her. LMAO. noope. did not happen.

Yeah I'm always confused by this -- I received a odd call the other day wanting to ask me questions about my insurance... I hung up and called my agent and asked if it was legit. It actually was but there's no way I'm just going to start discussing anything with a person cold calling me.

This story is odd like the bank didn't say anything to her withdrawing that much cash? I had a couple large checks last year to deposit and the teller used a very obvious code to get her manager over to assess the situation. I would assume they would do something similar if you were withdrawing 50 grand.

right. when I asked for a cashiers for 50K few years ago to buy a car..the teller was asking all sorts of questions. she was like how do you know this person. she flipped out when i told her i am buying a car off a guy from one of the car forums lol.

that wasn't even 50K in bills.

this woman got 50K in CASH. walked past her husband at 6pm to fix her "identity" because she wanted to be done with the whole situation. all because amazon called her.

    related story:
i got an email from indebted saying i need to pay $16 that was overdue/now in collections.
Trustly sent them after me...I contacted Trustly (i had no idea this company existed even) who said I didn't pay one of the vendors they work with. Track down the vendor.....Bet MGM...some gambling site. i said that site is not even LEGAL in texas and if Trustly had my bank info, why wouldnt they just take the 16 bucks...
after a few weeks of back and forth:

After some further investigation, it looks like the email was sent to you in error. I do apologize for the confusion that this may have caused. We are making changes to the back-end to help avoid this from occurring in the future. I also wanted to let you know, that there are no steps or actions that you have to take to help resolve this.
