Whats the longest you have ever had them in your eye? I usually wear 2 week disposable ones, but leave em in there for a month(taking them out atlleast once during that time.

I think I have beat my own record(not proud of it, just lazy) and havnt removed my contacts for over 2 months straight, and i had been using these same ones for almost a month before that. My eyes started hurting so i JUST replaced em...

so whats teh longest you had em in...

Why do you want to mess with your eyes like that. There's a reason they sell contact cases and solution. The solution removes the protein deposits on your lenses and prevents damage to the eye. There are lenses (Focus Night & Day) where they are designed to be slept in and worn for a month.

Accidentally falling asleep in them is ok. But if you wear them too long and protein deposits build up on the lens, you can get an ulcer on your eye and permanently mess up your vision (the scar will cause a blind spot in that area).

My dad is an optometrist and I worked as an optician off and on for 4 years. Sorry to beat down on ya ;)

This is purely hypothethical, but it seems to me that wearing a lens for too long could have side-benefit of actually reshaping your cornia such that it becomes closer to the desired curvature. Thus improving you vision slightly and possibly stabilizing the loss of vision by reducing the strain on the eyes. If you wear your lens longer it would seem probable that your eyes would strain less. Your vision would actually improve. I have no facts. But it makes perfect sense to me. I agree that protein despoits are a problem too. The nalalogy I would probably incorrectly make would be that of a splint. Without it. You can't walk and will horribly damage your leg. But with it, you walk much better and eventually might feel a little better.

I wear disposable Accuvue 2s. I take them out each night and soak them. I usually wear a pair for 2-3 weeks.

How come animals never get messed up vision and require corrective lenses?

they do get that, but they just die because they can't hunt, or defend themselfs versus Predators.

it is called natural selection, and humans do not have that anymore

Wow... yeah I NEVER sleep in mine, big No no.... of course I've already had eye surgery for other reasons so I'm not about to take chances with the good eye I got left... :p

But yeah, there was a girl in my dorm last yeah that had to have eye surgery as a result of leaving contacts in for too long, the protein buildup or whatever.... man, I thought a couple of days was bad, but two months is NUTS.... you should try and work on that adeel... you'll never realize how valuable those eyes are till you **** one up... :)

I have gone a little over a month, maybe 45 days without taking mine out. I have the monthly disposables, so I sleep in them and take showers, etc.

I have been wearing contact lenses for 19 years now (started when I was 12:eek: ).

I can make a 6 month set last me a year and a half, easy. I also have a friend of mine who can make a 6 month prescription last 6 years.
