Just dumb. Times Sengun won his matchup : Jokic 3 /4, 48% shooting for Joker The Brow 2/3, fouled him out in one of those. Sabonis 2/2 Chet 1/1 Kasser 1/1 Lively 1/1 Outscored both of their centers by 16 points Spurs 2/2 Duren 2/2 Claxton 1/2 Lopez 1/2 Jonas 2/3. Turner 1/2 (draw the second game with a bad back) Jarret Allen 1/1 Warriors: 2/2 Clippers center: 1/1 Portland's center 1/1 Poetl 1/2, we know why the second time. That's fantastic. some of the 'great' defenders are in that list and outworked them. The best have 5 seasons or more on him . Matchups Draw: Vuj Adembayo. Matchups lost: Embiid Eiffel Tower 2x The great Biyombo, Thunder got him for the next 3 games vs us after they got embarrassed. Porzi 2x Onyeka Really People should look up their favorite centers and compare who they struggled defending way early on in their careers before saying dumb ish.. It shouldn't even matter. Jabari is going to always draw the tough perimeter assignment.
Oh yeah...a 5 time NBA Championship Coach all of a sudden doesn't know how to coach anymore...OK. You think W-L during tanking means he can't coach anymore ? really ? I'm going to say this again...Defensively,Alpy is an average defender. And yes, Ime has played Bari at 5, also Uncle Jeff has played 5.
Jokic averaged 31 pts.,15 rebounds and 9.3 assists in the 3 games against Houston. If that's good..OK, we'll go with it. Alpy is very young and has plenty of room to grow defensively, but he is not a good defender IMO...gives up the lane a LOT.
Look at what he averages shooting wise normally. If he takes 30 shots to score 34 points at a 47%, for an 8 year all world vet, that's not good. He had to work for every point. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jokicni01/splits/2024
You just went from "he's a bad post-up defender" to "gives up the lane a lot." You're talking about entirely two different things as if they were the same thing. Sengun is objectively a good post-up defender and a bad PNR defender. Jabari is objectively a bad post-up defender and a good PNR defender.
Dillon Brooks was a problem tonight. I get on Jalen frequently for his rebounding, but Dillon has games like tonight that are even more indefensible. He is way too physical to play 35 minutes in a relatively high scoring game, where neither team shot that great, to end the night with exactly ONE rebound. He needs to get called out on it because his rebounding effort isn't what it should be night in and night out. He should be better. He's supposed to be a leader on this team, and he was outrebounded by EVERYONE who set foot on the court tonight. Nobody on either team who played even a single minute had fewer rebounds than Dillon Brooks. That sucks. He needs to be WAY better than that.
Somewhat agree.....Alpy is definitely a bad PNR defender, he definitely gives up the paint to guards slicing him up (Edwards) and he is a very average post up defender IMO. Agree on Jabari...handles lacking and needs to grow his body..good PNR defender. Alpy is a juggernaut on offense...his defense needs work. JMO of course. BTW...Bari defends the opposing big a LOT as opposed to Alpy in some games.
Pop championship teams played a vastly different style than this Steph Curry 3 point shooting type of teams today.. People get outdated, he vastly relied on Timmy, Kawhi. Very solid coach who should have gone executive IMHO and let his younger disciple coach. The Spurs handprints are all over the league though, Presti, Udoka, Will Hardy etc.
Definitely not soft. I think because he is 4th or 5th in shot selection on the team behind Jalen, Sengun, FVV and Dillion, its hard for him to get in a groove.
He isn’t a Houston original like most of us. He’s just some hater from Australia living in his mum’s basement. For some reason, he thinks we want to hear his opinions on our team.
FVV does so much for floor leadership, pace and setting up our guys. I'm starting to even doubt the whole Ime has been the reason why xyz even more. Brooks goes to **** without FVV, Jeff looks like he cannot play suddenly, Jalen forced to handle the ball. Sengun nor Jabari getting the ball immediately when they have a mismatch or a guy sealed off, though Jabari looking uncomfortable AF out there on offense lately. His awkward way of dribbling needs to be changed, because he will never make it in this league hunched over like that. Use your length man! The two positives if we keep losing like this is more Jeenathan and Amen, the latter has handled starting very well and really coming into his own.
