Classy move by Yao. He'll be leaving for Houston on Aug. 20th? Hopefully him and TMac will start working out together soon.

I am pretty sure it is to the Yankee government so he can get some tax breaks on the rest of his income.

Clearly he is not prepared for defection. More training needed. ;)

It's kind of hard for Yao to be "leaving for Houston on Aug. 20th" when it's already September.

    Well 2 points to clarify:-

    1. It is not US$ 1.5M (the contracted $ for his autobiography) that Yao Ming is prepared to donate. It is the sales proceeds of his autobiography.

    2. His date of return had changed to September 18. He will leave Shanghai together with his buddy, Liu Wei, the point guard of the China national team and his ex Shanghai Sharks team mate. He will stay in San Francisco for a few days for his medical check-up before reporting back to Houston. Liu Wei meanwhile will proceed to Eugene, Oregon for a 2-week training, before joining the Sacramento Kings training camp that commences October 2.

I don't like this going to San Francisco business for a physical. He can get a physical in Houston much easier. This is just one step in the Golden State Warriors plans to win over Yao and sign him to a long term contract!!   ;)

Yes, there is. It's Cuttino, the guy hired a PR to handle the good part.
