Don't these surgeries have a high success rate? I would think he would get the very best care available.
Best wishes to Clinton and his family. But sadly, I must admit when I heard this I asked myself: "Whoa, if Clinton got seriously ill, or died, what effect would this have on the election?"
And with all of the additional stress he was put under from Ken Starr's witch hunt, I'm surprised Clinton's heart condition didn't show up sooner.
It's really amazing how Presidents enter the white house looking fit as a fiddle, and leave looking like they're 30 years older.
In Clinton's case, my wife and I remarked on how great he looked at the convention. The man looked better than he did those last years in the White House. He really looked like he had lost weight and had been exercising. Assuming this is successful surgery, but keeps Bill slowed down for awhile, this could have an impact on the election. I expected Clinton to campaign hard for Kerry, something Gore stupidly wouldn't allow in 2000. You want Democrats to come out and vote? Just let Clinton cut loose with some speeches on the campaign trail leading up to the election. Regardless of what one may think of his morals and the like, the man is one of the great political speechmakers of this generation.

I wonder if the South Beach diet did this, or had a hand in it? I had an irradic heart beat after the induction phase of Adkins and had to add back in several more potassium rich carbs. Anyway, hope he makes it. I'm sure he will. We had a guy at our church go in for a stress test last year, and come out with a quad bypass... they caught it before it was too late.
