This was part of the title, one of the topics, in today’s rocketswatch. I am guessing clutch did not have his agendas in mind when he set the title
Alp's supporters get disappointed once in a while. Haters suffer constantly. Heartbroken people. Alp will be the best paid Rox player, frequent all-star/all nba and these souls are going to suffer and suffer. I am not a "schadenfreude" person but won't be sorry for their long term suffering. Complicated.
He must be aggressive, otherwise he will be Zubac, not Jokic, he must be like Cam Whitmore, he never passes, he takes all the balls and at the end of the day people praise him, NBA is the most individual league in the world, fans are simple people, no one looks at advance statistics, at the end of the day they look at how many points you got.
Hopefully he improves his clutch FT shooting. Feels like a few times now this season where him missing clutch FTs really hurt our chances at winning near the end. Of course I was at the game and it was one of his worst games of the season, smh.
I think it happened twice. Once, he missed both free throws, but we ended up winning anyway. And now the last game. Very frustrating. Not sure how this can be practiced...nerves. Within the flow of the game, he has actually been very good in the clutch. But when he has too much time to think at the line...
Do you know that Jokic is one of the best assisting guy ever within Cs. So you want him to be Jokic not Zubac and also want him to be similar to spoiled NCAA products. Is it oxymoron or paradox?
The two I remember off the top of my head are Sat night obviously and either the Lakers or Clippers game in LA, I don't remember which one specifically. I just think he has to improve his FTs in general, not just clutch.
Only way to practice high-pressure situations is to be in them a lot But any guy who only makes around 70% is going to miss 1 of 2 a lot of trips to the line, no matter the situation. He's gotta get better
He has improved massively just this year. He made two earlier in the game. It didn't matter in the end because the Rockets were better off losing that game than winning it. Can't dig yourself in that big of a hole and Sengun looked disinterested a lot of the game. Felt like this in a few other games this year (Hawks being another). There are things going on behind the scenes that we probably don't know about because something has been really off with this team in the last few weeks. I have a sneaking suspicion that Ime/Stone are butting heads. And Ime strikes me as the type of guy that will either get what he wants or lose games on purpose to force what he wants.
No, it doesn't feel like that at all... or we could discuss realities instead of feelings. Let me start by asking if Sengun's missed FTs are the greatest reason for our losses.
FTs are tough for physical bigs who battle under the basket whole game long and get whacked on their arms a lot. Not only is it hard due to the pressure/nerves, but your arms going numb doesn't help it either.
The ft thing is overblown for sure. He sat the whole 4th quarter to be subbed in with 20 seconds left on the clock, made 2 ft, subbed out, subbed back in and missed a ft. There is no rhythm there and he made 3/4. I think that's totally normal. And He is a 21 year old player. He is a 70% ft shooter and that will most likely improve. The other 21 year olds are making so many wrong decisions on court that they waste many opportunities that are worth far more than the single ft. Rockets need to fill in the other spots, starting from back-up center and sg and probably back up guard. That would be a play-off team. And enjoy the development of all the young guys, be a contender in 2-3 years when FVV is replaced. If you try to pinpoint minor things like missing a ft here and there, you are missing the big picture. If sengun misses those in 2 years then you start to worry about it.
